Why would you work with FPGAs? It's not a good job, even in the embedded field...

Get EE degree with embed graduate, read about ASICs, apply for jobs

If american, I hear Texas is developing a silicone industry

The route to work with that level of tech without a degree will be several magnitudes more difficult than with one.
The only way you can get one without a degree is if you're one of those autistic savants

They already have a silicone industry. You of course mean silicon based semiconductor industry!

I didn't say that. Even if he wants to remains in the embedded world, there's a lot of better options than FPGAs.

It's niche, but it's stable. Embedded fags are trying to push c++ into the field so unless you are lead and can enforce a proper C with microcontrollers, it will sucks. At least there are no fags in FPGA.

Well, usually, when they say that they want to introduce C++ they mean a very small subset(ie some parts of the STL). Usually it doesn't harm the project too much.

FPGA is the worst subfield of the embedded world imho. The pay is very bad(worse than any other sector) and there are virtually no pay increases. Your typical day is spent by debugging the most weird shit or simulating every possible scenario.

Why don't you choose a job related to embedded programming on Linux/BSP? It is a way more fun and exciting field and the pay is generally better.

>NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T USE MODERN TECHNOLOGY ON A MICROCONTROLLER BECAUSE YOU YOU JUST CAN'T!
The world can't wait for you to retire, grandpa.
>but muh perfo-
C++ results in the same if not better performance with less code and bugs.
>but muh bloated excep-
You only pay for what you use.
