related though,
officers of companies that lay off US employees and replace them with jeets should be executed in public.
let's start with boeing.

2.2 billies is pretty much nothing. Intel needs to sell good processors. That's all there is to it.

Why does cutting the fat imply that they're cooked?
I know they are currently cooked. But this headline doesn't imply anything negative at all to me.
>more money
>less dead weight
If anything it makes me want to take a look at the stock after reading this to do some research.

It's unironically the first positive thing I've heard about intel in a while.
Last time something like this happened in my memory it was meta laying off 15k people or something and people were doomposting.
>check stock price after layoffs
>instantly responds to the announcement of layoffs by going up
Everyone knows how many useless workers there are in tech draining capital. The market seems to as well.

This is a good thing.
Intel was extremely bloated. In 2023, before they started laying people off, they had as many employees TSMC, NVidia, and AMD combined.

Did Intel actually get paid any of that money? The last I heard it was something like this:
>Government pledges to pay Intel to build new fabs if they jump through the right hoops
>Intel starts building $8B worth of new fabs expecting government money
>Intel has a rough time with rustgate on top of low yields, and then their new generation with the rust problem fixed is slower than their old chips
>Government waffles on paying out the money because they think Intel might go out of business whether they get the money or not
This was a couple of months ago, so my info could be outdated, but the fact that the headline claims that Intel got the funding "under Biden" suggests that it's just referring to funds promised and not delivered.

So you go to work then pay most of your paycheck in taxes, so you can bail out the stupid company you are working for? But they keep all the earnings and bonuses.

Another big CHIPS deal was Micron starting a megafab near me in Syracuse, NY. It looks like part of the problem is that they don't get the CHIPS money untl stringent conditions are met but they also lose the money if they don't qualify in time. For such big investments they're sort of gambling for the money and that makes decisons tough.
