has anyone ever wanted this feature? why does it even exist, much less as the default option? in what possible FUCKING scenario would i want to paste something into a document while retaining the source formatting?

I do that all the time. I don’t want to reclick bold button, retype asterisk, etc.

normies copy and paste stuff because they like how it looks and they expect it to just look the exact same way no matter what they are copying it from or pasting it into

It's great if you're staying within a single vendor's ecosystem, like copy/pasting bullet points between Microsoft Outlook/Teams/Azure DevOps

The minute more than one vendor gets involved it's just fucking annoying though because no-one can agree on anything and it screws up the paste
