Why does the record function not work on MKVs? The audio is always delayed, subtitles not shown, overall really bad and sometimes the recording is flat out corrupted. Is it with the fact that it tries turning an MKV to an mp4 plus not embedding the subs and audio?

MPV vs VLC who wins?

I had trouble with HDR 10Bit tonemapping to SDR with VLC while in MPV it worked out of the box, but I know you can get it to work in VLC, what do you all think?

VLC is vastly superior in terms of stability and the programmers behind it are 10x the developers that the literal retards working on mpv are

that said, yes mpv uses better renderer out of the box, it gives pretty playback and SDR to HDR conversion is very good, but it comes at the cost of having literally the worst frame stability, the worst audio sync and hundreds of subtle errors that are of a technical nature you can see exist only due to how bad the main developers are at implementation

If MPV were a good media player, we wouldn't need a general on this board every single day with hundreds and hundreds of posts.

I have a bit of a confusion with the smartphone version of VLC. Until lately it only consumed 2-3% of battery with a roughly 20 minute episode watch volume at 60-67% sometimes 73%. But now the same video drains 5-6% and I don't udnerstand the reason behind it. Can anyone explain and is it something that can be undone to not consume so much?
