One of my friends in college had a Windows Phone and since Snapchat didn't officially support it, he downloaded some unofficial bootleg Snapchat app that still somehow worked. However, once Snapchat found out about it, his account was banned forever.

Still miss it, WP10 was actually very pleasant to use. The biggest problem was: >>105697193
Those fuckers just stopped halfway and didn't dedicate enough resources to making it work as intended.

People who complain it was unintuitive were already used to iOS and its chinese clone called Android. (Remember: Android tried to copy BlackBerry first)

I used WP on Lumia 800, 920 and 950, intermittently on a 720 and a 1020. For me the switch to the supposedly intuitive iOS was not nice, shit was fucking unintuitive, but still better than Android.

it was the perfect phone for your parents, very easy to use and ran much smoother than android on bottom of the barrel specs. my mom liked her cheap Lumia a lot.
but even for a mom the lack of app support was noticeable.

I still think windows phone 10 had the best design out of any phone.
it didn't have silly buttons on a top bar that were inaccessible for 1 handed use as phones were getting bigger a few years earlier than android and a decade earlier than iphones.
it was last time microsoft had a competent design team.

The designers knew to prioritise 1 handed since windows mobile 8, but the large metro titles then are laughable now.

I still have fond memories of the 920 I had back then. I didn't care about apps, still don't; I only need phone calls, email and a decent browser.
If only MS hadn't shit the bed so badly with Windows Phone development.

Indeed. Funnily enough, I didn't like Metro on the desktop, felt like so much wasted space, but on the phone it worked perfectly. The titles extending outside of the screen to indicate continuing content and scrollable areas was great, and it did manage one-handed usage perfectly.

I'm only happy with my current iPhone because it's the 12 Mini, where I can actually reach the top bar with a slight wrist contortion. I'm never going to buy a bigger phone.

>decent browser.
It's funny that IE on the WP was actually really good, but it was always shit on the desktop.

And give me that stock calendar back, it's the best calendar app I've yet to see.

I wonder if Microsoft regrets giving up on mobile. They gave it as much of a chance as Google did with Stadia.

I had a Zune HD where the UI was first deployed. It was a great UI and was easy to use. However msft shit the bed as usual and couldn't get developers to port their apps to it in numbers that would have saved the platform.

Maybe Windows wouldn't look and feel like such a mongrelized abomination if this didn't fail.
