Is it really that fucking hard to have an AI that would just translate some WebExtension code to XUL technology and, maybe on a good day, properly implement XPCOM in them?

Google Gemini 2.5 "pro" can't even write a proper overlay that would just show up on the toolbar.

You'd have to know what is Pale Moon, and how different their extension technology is (XUL) in comparison to what the majority of the mainstream browser is using (Webextension), that is making the "MV3" changes that will render uBlock Origin useless in chrome, for you to understand what I'm talking about.

And let Google dictate how the other browsers extensions behave? Why not just support a stable browser alternative, with a very powerful extension technology, that we could utilize and just translate some "MV2" extensions to it?!

keep the core of your extension portable, and then it won't be a pain to port

That is a wonderful idea, only for the fact that I'm not really keeping MY extension core portable, I'm forking some popular Chrome/Firefox extensions into Pale Moon, writing HTML into XUL and translating Manifest APIs into XPCOM. I thought this process is easy, since I'm not really asking much from the AIs, but Jesus Christ, how can an AI be trained at making apps from scratch, yet can't translate couple of files from the extension source code into XUL and make it just work?!

>uBlock Origin
>Violentmonkey
>Video Speed Controller
>SponsorBlock
>Return YouTube Dislike
>LocalCDN

These are the extensions that are at the top of my head. There are multiple other "MV2" extensions that would benefit being migrated to the superior XUL extension technology, instead of the gimped Webextension technology.

Well you can install the classic addons archive extensions from justoff.github.io if you can't find them on the PM page. Also this realityripple.com guy program newer XUL addons.

That's is called transpiling, you don't need an AI to do this.
I swear AI is making people braindead.

XML User Interface Language is a technology of the past decade.

What if I created an extension that clicked advertisement links in the background without the user ever seeing the ads? This would be with the user's permission. Is that extension ok in a browser like Pale Moon?
