What's the alternative if I want to dev, plays games and media then?

I need up to date packages and a distro that won't break itself.

I don't see a better alternative for this.

I have both windows 11 and fedora 42 installed on my system and windows is laggy as fuck compared to Linux and this is despite having latest drivers installed and bloatware removed.

It's like every update makes windows slower. I'm not using a 15 year old stinkpad either. I shouldnt have to have a 2000$ computer to have a smooth operating system experience.

only downside of fedora is its stable nature, i think its mutables nature is retarded and just as prone to breaks as a rolling distro.

So far it's the only distro that just works. Every other one shits the bed during installation, updates, or normal usage. An OS that requires me to follow news, do manual interventions under the hood, or debug shit I didn't write is not an OS but a timesink hobby project. I want to use my pc and software, not spend my time fixing poorly written, configured, migrated, or timed shit somebody else did. Just Werk or gtfo.

Kubuntu broke itself by updating from a vanilla install with a dozen errors including nonsense like "wrong" software sources being configured (meaning by their own fucking installer). Opensuse failed to install the network manager it shills, still couldn't connect to wifi when I used NetworkManager, started giving me random error popups in the background about kwallet, and didn't let me change locale to an entry in its own dropdown. Manjaro expects you to follow arch news for breaking changes to fix them instead of the fix just being fucking automated and shipped like in any normal software project.

So far fedora has given me none of that "works on my machine, if I publish shit packages then it's up to the user to fix my bad work and start digging into the letter soup internals of a system they didn't build" crap. So far.

It's 2025 and the linux UX is still more a bad dev project than a productive system that just works for you.

Every time you use free and open-source software, you’re effectively testing it for someone else. If you’re a good samaritan and want the software to improve, you’ll report bugs and/or contribute fixes. Good luck doing that with closed software.
Maybe (((OP’s))) true agenda isn’t to attack a particular distribution, but to push people toward using proprietary software.

You think you are smart and see ahead of the curve, but you're very dumb.
The Kernel is backed up and pretty much steered by corporations.
All of them
https://www.linuxfoundation.org/about/members
Red Hat is a single player in the game you seem to hate, you don't realize it's a ton of corporations that are also beta testing on your packages, kernel, and other open source projects and standards.
AMD fags are one intolerable bunch thinking they have open source shit, but they don't know Khronos group does its will with the graphics stack.
In strict terms, CentOS Stream is the beta testing build for what is planned to be in the next release of RHEL.

it's not a matter of capabilities but priorities. Could I? Sure, if I spent the time studying and practicing. But why would I? The point of my computer is to be a tool and help me do stuff or to do stuff for me, not to give me even more to do by being a chore by itself.

Meh, it's okay.
>font rendering glitches on the clock
>hot corner disabled with no obvious config toggle
>alt-tab flattened with no obvious config toggle
>no keyboard shortcuts in Software Centre
>can't simultaneously search all sources in Software Centre
>probably a few other things I can't remember right now
And that's putting aside the usual concerns about Canonical.

Also, 25.04 is based on a snapshot of Unstable that corresponds to a relatively mature point in Testing release cycle (Trixie is currently in hard freeze). So Canonical would have had to try quite hard to break things. Chances are Trixie will have released before the 25.10 snapshot is taken, and so chances are 25.10 will be shitshow, as will the first several months of 26.04 LTS.

You are a literal baby that needs to go back to windows. Only real men use a computer OS that asks, nay, demands you to spend your entire day troubleshooting bullshit that was no fault of your own. Getting actual work done? What are you, twelve? Go back to your walled jeet ecosystem if you care so much about "work" and "not wasting my goddamn time troubleshooting random bullshit for 5 hours"

Why do you "need" an up to date distro? What are you getting by installing foo-2.3.1-7 over foo-2.3.6?

We have Snap, Guix, Nix, AppImage and Flatpak. There is zero reason to use rolling release distros anymore.

snap, appimage and flatpak require an up to date system to execute.

if you actually tried what you posted about, you would have known that.

Any tool takes care and maintenance. Would you complain that a knife needs to be sharpened? Actually you probably would you faggot, then go find a knife that "doesn't need sharpening" meaning it's dull all the time. Go have fun on your proprieshitter OS and leave us in peace.
