Many many years, every non NPC will have their own local AI in the future and it's important that your ai waifu is local so Greg down the road can't hack her.

Desktops will always be a thing in one way or another, because you can't do serious work on a m0bile device.

You seem to be stuck in the 2010s.
There are hundreds of thousands of people who have a normal 27inch monitor and a bluetooth keyboard somewhere at home and they simply hook up their smartphone as the "brain" in 5 seconds and do their "work" using Google services.
It's disgusting but it's what an increasing amount of normalfags do now. They simply do not need a real PC anymore.

>Attach a laptop to a cockstation that has already attached to a monitor, a keyboard and a mouse.
>Do serious work on it
That's how we office drones work.

We are in a life of multi devices. I have a desktop pc for normal surfing, phone for on the go and a tablet for wanking with.

This. Worst case scenario is that we go back to paying a premium for workstation and server grade gear.

Bluetooth keyboard and TV you mean, I learned all my PC shit from my dad back in the day and now he literally does this when he needs to do something "serious", his laptop SSD probably wiped itself already for being unpowered for too long.

Only for high grade work like 3D rendering, video editing, compiling, etc office fags already do everything on laptops in a browser, they'd be on Chromebooks already if the boomer IT departments knew anything other than windows.
Gamers are unironically the last ones keeping consumer desktops alive.

You were duped into thinking "smart" devices don't have processing capabilities by means of being trapped in walled gardens and app stores. How did you manage to become this much of a stupid shit?

web apps are terrible. if you actually need to do work every web productivity application sucks and nobody wants to deal with remote desktops and licensing.

Officefag here
I do all my work on a thinkcentre running windows 11 enterprise because while a lot of my job is web portals, a lot of it is still as/400 or dsmi
This entire industry is like this, we have a triple layer impact printer in active daily use
And I come from an industry that was also like this but with a different flavor of as/400 that even ran locally in the building on an actual power5 based ibm eserver, alongside windows 11 and a blueyonder inventory management system
I donโ€™t know where this idea comes from that actual business is somehow occurring on chrome and google docs. That shit is only done on low impact small operations.
Like my expedite carriers use a shared google docs spreadsheet, the shit that matters uses software that matters which requires more than a work phone and Chromebook.
