SteamOS is for handheld devices. Only retards and people running media center TV setups run it on a desktop computer.

Gamers need to be slightly smarter. Like the ability to install an OS manually (like with WinXP back then, but with archinstall script now). It's really not THAT hard and I'm not even a coder or IT guy.

not hard, but not everyone is like us, that would go out of their way to do that. most of the gaming market doesn't (nor should they) have to think about dealing with the operating system, which speaks volumes of the absolute state of the operating system world.

A desktop SteamOS is the closest Linux will ever get to mainstream. But Valve don't want to do that anyway.

If you have 100 different tasks, you need 100 different specialized Linux-distros for the best performance.
With Microsoft Windows, you only need one.

The point of steamOS is to have a gaming desktop. If you want something more general like windows literally just use a different distro. Windows manchilds would rather cry for mom than spend a single minute googling how to fix their issue.

The most difficulty i had in installing steam on linux was on Debian/Devuan and only if you want to install it through repos (you need to launch a command to enable multi-arch repos), instead using flatpak or appimage is a no brainer. On retard-tier distro like ubuntu you just open the software center, type "steam" and click to install, done.

main blockers at this point are the game developers themselves,
many games explicitly block linux support via anticheat and shitty drm implementations

If you cannot pass installing arch, you do not deserve the performance benefits it brings.

Just compile your own fine tuned kernel and patch your bootloader to hotswap between them when needed.
You should be able to solve this.

It's made specifically for the Steam Deck. You can do both on any popular distro.

The only reason normalfags put up with Wangblows is because it appeared on TV and was used by other normalfags. Linux for retards will never happen, simply because desktop operating systems will no longer appear on TV for normalfags.

>With Microsoft Windows you need to learn several virtualized Linux environments (WSL2, Cygwin) and shells (Powershell) that don't even give you full functionality if Windows doesn't want to give it to you
>With Linux you just need a terminal and bash for the simple, retard friendly experience of copying and pasting
Linux just werks.
