It is code, but machine code, not C code or Python code. Since the program was written in C originally and the converted to machine code it is much harder to understand than the original c code

Learn how to use Ida and Ghidra and make your dreams real. Just be aware that decompiling even a small videogame is a multi-year adventure. It's not hard to make steady progress if you just keep poking and poking though. Every little thing you discover helps you figure out something else.

I'm sure AI will eventually make reverse engineering considerably trivial, but what programs would be worth decompiling anyway? Some Adobe garbage? Windows? When AI gets that good then at that point it's easier to just use it to make something new and better from the ground up than decompiling garbage software made by humans.
