The real answer is no, because there WILL be a wave of hires needed to fix all the slop that has been being generated for the last 2 years. Keep writing software and learning, and when the opportunity comes you will be prepared.
The downside is it's not going to be in any short amount of time.
I'm going to make it work, but this entire last few years has constantly told me that I'm not wanted in the industry. For some reason I keep trying.
