MacOS is technological trickery. It has survived four cpu architectural changes and multiple api changes too. Meanwhile Windows mostly stuck to x86 apart from NT 4.0 and the occasional attempt at ARM.

classic mac os was utter garbage. jobs killed it for good and replaced it with NeXTSTEP. unlike classic mac os, NeXTSTEP was a fully multiplatform OS (you could install it on m68k, pa-risc, sparc and x86)

not really when you understand macos foundation. its based off nextstep, which was based off unix. it was built off a foundation for multi-cpu architecture.

ironically, so is NT from microsoft. microsofts problem isn't being able to port NT to a different architecture, as its actually built to be ported for other architectures, but rather microsoft inability to get people to adopt different architectures.

apple is able to get away with it because they go the gun to your head approach. apple realized they can just do things.
