I don't really understand why flat design was ever a thing to begin with. Sure it is easier to scale due to the use of solid vectors rather than rasterized shapes, but it is also incredibly un-legible, which makes the criticisms of iOS 26 sound much more retarded to me because it's coming from flatshit fags.
iOS 6:
>text and icons have a drop shadow which makes text legible/icons visible regardless of wallpaper
>stroke/inner glow effect makes icons look 3D so they stand out from their background
iOS 7:
>no shadows or inner effects so icons blend with the background
This is one of the reasons I think Apple are trying to get away from flatshit, the trajectory of iOS 7 to iOS 18 has been mainly fixing all of iOS 7's shit.

Apple hasn't given a fuck about usability or design in years. Just look at the shit they showcased as "innovation" before moving to the new liquid ass that has even worse readability.

Flat design exists due to lazy management. If you try to make something "unique" and "not flat", then it will potentially conflict with later design decisions if you bring in new designers or need to accommodate a new change.
>But they already had a thing, why change it?
Lazy management that needs to justify its paycheck.
