The default on Ubuntu is gnome-terminal, so that one.
I never understood people who use any terminal emulator besides the default one, the only feature I can think of that you might need from one, is tab support, and they all have it. please explain to me what's so important about a window that basically does nothing but display text that you need to use some hipster terminal emulator

Your terminal emulator needs to use the power of the GPU.

It does open pretty fast, but of course if you have a proper toggle setup, that doesn't matter.

redpill me on alacritty. ive been using it for a while and got confortable with it. here is why i use it:
>its simple with no menus or gui elements, only a config file
>allows you to resize text without resizing the window
>allows you to select any text in the window without a mouse using vim motions
is there a better alternative that does the same thing?

What's a terminal emulator that is somewhat lightweight (I'll be using tmux, for example), and that has SANE copy/paste/text selection/text whatever/texttexttext keyboard shortcuts? I want to be able to hit shift+home and have the whole line selected, for example. And then hitting ctrl+c should copy the line.
