Overall Kontext is kind of shit, it's fun to play with for like 5 minutes then you see all the drawbacks of the underlying model like plastic skin and sameface still bleeding through everything, not to mention making all full body shots into manlets.

At this point it's a quick crappy meme generator, maybe loras will come up with interesting stuff and fix the glaring underlying problems.

It's incomparably faster than gguf quants. It's no black magic so obviously you sacrifice some quality but I can't say it looked any worse than Q4_K_M. Haven't used it with base flux btw, only with chroma v29.

Kontext can also take obscure video game sprites and basically "remix" them, creating immediately recognizable yet fundamentally different versions of the same. Here's a random alien stone from Marathon 2: Durandal, and a few effortless variants. Wish I didn't have to go to bed, I have a feeling that with some careful tweaking and some throwaway outputs, this will be good enough to create sprite sheets with almost no editing outside of color palette and pixel grid correction.

Nice, but 2x gen time stings too much. You still can get good results with stitching two images, but I guess you'd have to write a bit longer prompt. I had to go with:
"Create a new image. Take the photo on the right and replace the golden trophy with a golden statue of a cartoon frog from the left image. Make the golden statue of the frog look similar to the original, and make it take the same pose with its arms crossed. Depends on what model, for SDXL I've always trained the text encoder (never tried without), for Flux however the results were as good if not better just training the unet, and of course faster.

Will be interesting to try Chroma training once it's supported in OneTrainer, I can't bother with anything else at this point.

What you can expect from text encoder training is typically faster convergence and the concept you are training being more impactful when you use the captioning / keyword you've trained said concept with.

It also typically overrides already existing concepts using the same captioning / keyword (known as concept bleed) and also overtrains faster, which can mean it can't learn small minute details since you can't train for as long.

When there's only a single LR, you can assume that it's a setting for both unet and text encoder (unless text encoder training is disabled).

Every trainer I know of today allow you to set different learning rates for Unet and Text Encoder training, generally people use the same LR for both but train the Text Encoder for just N epochs in order not to overtrain it, again practically every trainer allows for training unet for N epochs and N epochs for text.

Is there actually a memory leak in current ComfyUI? My pull is from late May and doesn't have one. I'd like to give kontext but pulls in comfy and A111 are a gacha roll sometimes.

No it's actually the opposite. When you train the text encoder with your concept, you will tie the captions (which are broken into tokens) stronger to the images you are training, so that they will bleed into all existing images using the same style captions / concept.

Maybe you want this, but it will make the model overall less flexible, and is a reason you want to train the text encoder as little as possible.

Ok anons, I'm training illustrious v01 and I'm trying different settings, some tags it does learn it, some other tags it has problems with. I wasn't training the text encoder at first and that's why I was asking if default learning rate was the same as unet learning rate. For what I've heard the text encoder should be half the value of the unet, but I'm not sure.

At this point I'm seeing what can I improve to have a better training, maybe I should sit h from standard Lora to lycoris.

If you are training the text encoder throughout the whole run, this makes sense to me, but it you only train it for N epochs, I would just use the same LR as the unet and adjust the number of epochs to train the text through testing.

There is no magical settings that work for everything, if so, there would be no settings. There are those that generally give good results with basically everything (and they are typically provided as defaults), but for the 'best' results you typically have to try some different settings.

And to make matters worse, this differs from concept to concept, base model to base model.

Assume you are training an artstyle, if your base model already knows that style or something very similar, it will train it very fast and for best results you should likely lower your unet LR and the number of text encoder epochs, but of course it could be the opposite and the base model is very unfamiliar with the concept / style, and so you need higher LR, more text encoding training for best results, etc.

So there is no silver bullet, eventually you will start to do educated guesstimates on what better settings are for certain types of concepts due to your experience.

You will look at your 'during training' samples, training the text encoder makes the training more efficient, as in faster, overtraining means that what you get out is practically exactly what you put in, so instead of learning the style or characteristics, it will basically give you your training images back, that is overtrained.

Another giveaway that typically happens sooner is that the sample images become oversaturated and look 'burnt', that's your first warning of having overtrained.

It is overall better if you don't have to train the text encoder, so only use it if your training doesn't seem to 'bite', with Flux I would say don't do it at all, hopefully that will also be the case with Chroma. It just adds another variable to juggle and it's easy to mess up your training with it.
