Use hydrus. It'll stop that annoying thing where you have to sift through a bunch of stuff you've already seen and have downloaded or decided you don't like.
Even if you don't use the tagging stuff, it's good to have it for that alone. The archive-delete filter is also a nice way to browse.

The UI is a bit convoluted and the flow can be a bit complicated to get started with, but it's the only thing available that integrates booru/chan downloaders, and a picker to archive or delete, and a filter to not show already archived or deleted stuff in new searches.
Ultimately the work created by the UI is much less than the work saved by not having to look at media you've already made a decision about a second (third, fourth...) time.
I mostly use it for art, but it would work well for anything they have a downloader for, and it can use gallery-dl via another program if it doesn't have a downloader for your source, but I haven't needed that yet.

I have made some stuff in the past and I think the most important thing to get users to click on the project is to have some screenshots of how the project ui or in this case - how the galleries that are created from the command line looks like. Like a preview of the final build would be appreciated, just use some SFW content and it should be fine.
