I prefer LO Writer (and AbiWord for simpler documents). Even WordTsar is comfy. On the other hand, people coming from Windows and Mac seem to love OnlyOffice, and have very little trouble acclimating to it.

Writer with the tabbed interface is better than Word nowadays, you just need to learn how to properly use styles instead of formatting directly

I donโ€™t get why no one makes a WYSIWYG markdown editor. As in you only see the formatted result, not the underlying markdown. And especially not the flickering mess that the current markdown viewers do. They kept switching between html and markdown view, and interpreting as you type. Itโ€™s disgusting.

It can hold more text and you can erase mistakes as many times as you want. On paper you'll run out of eraser or wear holes in the paper if you make a lot of mistakes.

That thing just seems like a scam though. You can get the same effect with an old laptop thats got nothing but word processor on it.

I've got plenty of laptops that work just fine and I'm sure most people either have or can easily find one. It doesn't have to be big either. I use an old netbook for typing because all it has to do is run a word processor. If battery life is an issue, carry a spare battery. If all of that is too inconvenient for you and you'd rather live with the problems of pen and paper then fine. I just use an laptop because it seems like the most practical solution.

Those are text editors. OP said "word processor." If you don't know the difference, don't post.

The best word processor, despite its age, is WordStar. There are versions for both CP/M and DOS.

Not only do a bunch of programs already do this, it's fucking attrocious to want this in the first place.
Why even use markdown at all if you don't want to look at the underlying text? May as well use XML.
