>Redpill me on Graphene.
Israeli psyware had to admit it's the only commonly seen phone OS it can't get into.

Let's assume, Graphene is 100% private. But the true privacy problem lies not in the OS, but in user behaviour. Why do we use Smartphones? Because we want to use the internet. What part of the internet do we want to use? The Corponet. This is the place where surrveilance and tracking is done. As soon you use your phone for average websurfing, it doesn't matter which OS you use. And no, there is no browser which will protect you from tracking. You can't use the corponet, without being tracked.

I'm aware. This is a question about the OS itself.

Please back up your claims. Your comment is not helpful to anyone otherwise.
Provide actual open code that shows the functionality you're concerned about or point olus to the BLOBs that get compiled in. Or the result of an audit at least.

Pros:
- They actually give a fuck about security, in case your life is important enough for glowfriends to care.
- The only decent alternative to IoS when it comes to security
- Rumored to be too secure for cellbrite devices (according to reports from protests in Serbia).
Cons:
- Not the most functional ROM ever
- Works for very few, selected devices, because Pixels are the only phones that have guaranteed verified boot support
- Developers are full-fledged schizos and suffer from Gnome syndrome.

If you are a normal human being, stick to stock android, or maybe lineage, if you want some extra features and extended support. If someone who is wealthy enough to get access to 0days is actually after you, it might be a good idea to get a phone with graphene, but I guess that in this case you have bigger problems really.

"Get a Pixel 8 the boot loaders are all unlocked and new ones are dirt cheap. Dead simple to put GrapheneOS on it, if it's good enough for Snowden it's good enough for you.

Once your google ID is entered into any stock android device that IMEI is recorded forever and the device will never be anonymous and forever tied to you. If you went for a J6 field trip running Graphene no one was the wiser. People who went with stock android or IOS got the bracelets. Wise up if you value your freedom."

It's private and just werks. The devs absolutely suffer from gnome syndrome like the anon above me said, can't take a hint of criticism, but at least they put out decent, usable software.

ummmm achkshually, the most SECURE and PRIVATE smartphone is Google Pixel. Why? Because it has very cool sounding GOOGLE TITAN chip. It improves your security. Who cares that it's proprietary and nobody knows what it does? They said it helps!

No, according to leaked cellebrite info sheets a few months ago. They're a bit outdated and focused only on android but basically if you had the newest version of GOS at the time and turned your phone off before it being taken from you, it wouldn't be the cause of your jail time.
>- Not the most functional ROM ever
How so?
>- Developers are full-fledged schizos

I recommend keeping some old phone in your glove box if you're going to use this piece of s*** OS, just in case it fails during an emergency. You don't need a current service contract to contact 911 via a cell phone

far from it. it honestly is the only secure way to use a phone these days, in addition to not doing stupid shit on your phone and not storing personal info etc. social media is spyware and should be avoided

The only social media I use is youtube for music or background noise and the occasional guide. Is Newpipe or 'private' front end websites a safe way to do this with relatively good privacy/anonymity?

So you would have to reboot it? okay.

Well, you can't use root and few other things, which is a drawback for many people, but I guess that If you really need Graphene then you probably don't care.
>Only strcat and I'd just ignore him in all honesty.
Idk man, for me graphene's rants seem really annoying.

If you want privacy iode os is better as it blocks ads natively across all apps. If you dont want a new phone iode or lineage os are the best choice as you can enfore SE linux on them. If you are buying a new phone DO NOT log into it with your gmail and install graphene os first, then create a profile and then use google apps in the sandbox only. For pc or laptop qubes os is the best. Also leard Defense in depth as most hacks are social engineering not virus based

Yes they are. Especially on GOS. Brave NewPipe with sponsor block. Stay away from Chance. It uses Google Firebase Analytics an for spying.

It's about it being turned off. Iirc they can still get into it AFU.

I mean I never used it, but I get it. I think /g/ especially might be very displeased with that.
>Idk man, for me graphene's rants seem really annoying.
Yeah he's an annoying piece of shit but it never affected the code by now and I doubt it will happen anytime soon. The best thing people could do is simply judge the OS on its own merit and not mention Micay every time it's brought up.

Depending on the use case, TAILS might be better for a user. But I agree, in most cases Qubes is the better daily driver.

The one issue I have is - how did they acquire leaked Cellebrite documents? Makes you think.

They weren't the ones first leaking them.
