You should use it, especially if you want to become employed. It's a decent editor, and if you're used to it you'll already know a lot of Visual Studio if you join a company that uses it.

Only reason is if whatever you're coding in has a better integration with another IDE. The first example that comes to mind would be Java, more specifically Spring, for which IDEA will have a lot more purpose built tools.

You should probably use this instead.
(Unless you're a student, in which case you shouldn't use any kind of AI until you're very fluent and confident at programming by yourself.)

pfft, where I work every coder can use their editor of choice, I use Zed for example, there are people with vscode, neovim and jetbrains stuff.
you should stick to one editor and know everything about it.

As it comes by default is utterly useless for anything, requiring extensive extension installation to do half what a dedicated IDE does.
And yes, if you're feeling good you can install tons of extensions, but it will basically make the whole application become sluggish and unresponsive, for example, I had extensions for like 8 programming languages and frameworks, and it took minutes for the nx console I use for work to load (if even that) until I uninstalled some extensions.

I don't understand the point of vscode when visual studio is also free. Are you using some kind of potato computer that can't handle a full IDE? Why does vscode even exist?

In what way is vscode better than visual studio specifically? I tried it back before visual studio was free and it just seemed like glorified notepad++ to me. It doesn't have any of the tools of a full IDE.

At every company I've worked for you could use whatever editor/IDE you wanted.
Most of my colleagues use VS Code, some use Vim or JetBrains. I use Emacs.
