it's always just technology, its the human who uses it that determines what happens. if rich people want to make the moon a new tourist destination they can do it, if someone wants to colonize mars with independent robots they can do it, if people want to outsource AI development to building cheap compute and letting it run like a monkey on a typewriter, it'll just waste cycles unless someone goes out of their way to make it terminator irl
