We have effectively unlimited power in our pockets for anything a web browser can do
All the formats show all the colours
None of them do crazy artifacting anymore

Just use the file formats from the 90s that just work. Even a potato can decode a jpeg.

as retarded as it is, they're actually getting pretty efficient. figuring out a solution to corrupted transmissions other than sheer redundancy is the most obvious place for improvement.
