Are failures of Linux the proof that no profit incentive = poor quality of the end product?

I bought a laptop. I installed Linux on it. Everything just worked except the fingerprint reader. I came from Windows 10 LTSC and KDE looks just about the same. Zero need to adjust. Everything else I don't care because it works on my motherfucking machines and all the machines I am expected to maintain.

Why not just use win 11 + WSL or MacOS where literally everything really works? I can understand using linux as server but I can't really understand to use gnu/linux as a primary desktop OS where trivial things are much complicated compared to desktop-oriented OSs.

Even installing docker desktop, postgres with pgadmin and with its default db are much easier on windows. On linux I had to figure out how to do that for hours.

Windows 11 is hot garbage. I've been installing it for other people lately and it's not a great experience. Every time I need to use someone's computer at work that's running it and I open that piece of shit start menu I'm filled with disappointment. Any other task works basically the same on Linux as it does on Windows. I don't have issues with most things. The trade off is that not every product under the sun is targeted at your OS. Like my SDR for example. I want to listen to the radio on my computer and SDR# is my software of choice. The driver support is there but I can only get older versions of that software working through Wine. Little things like that are a small price to pay to not run a jeetified dumpster fire of an OS that keeps getting worse over time. Some tasks I do are actually easier on Linux and I much prefer having a terminal that isn't shit.

There was a bug (which shouldn't exist in a proper tested product) where just saying "Yes" while installing Steam would destroy your desktop.

Well I'd love if I could just tell everyone here at my work to switch to Linux but it's not easy because of Microsoft Office and other proprietary shitware they run. I'm glad I don't need it. Because they do we now need to get rid of a bunch of old machines that don't support 11.

>saying "Yes" while installing Steam would destroy your desktop.
More accuratelly, saying "yes, do as I say" to a message that said more or less "doing this shit will remove a bunch of essential stuff and could fuck shit up, if youre really sure you want to proceed type YES DO AS I SAY"

>Now who's fault is that?
Whoever maintains PopOs! considering it was only a problem in that particular distro

>Now who's fault is that?
Incompetent package maintainers.
And that's why application distribution shouldn't be left to those who have no stake in doing their job properly - autistic script kiddie distro maintainers.
It should be left to application developers themselves - exactly how it is on other platforms.

There is profit incentive involved in Linux. The failures of Linux are usually attributed to the fact that most companies are actively malicious.

>Fresh install with outdated iso
>Know just enough to use the terminal based package manager, but not enough to know even the basic steps for how to use it, like updating first to avoid dependency related shenanigans that would lead to your packages being uninstalled
>Don't read any of the warnings, but do read the text telling you how to proceed
At this point "being able to do this" is just a natural consequence of being able to use the computer to do anything. At any point he could have easily avoided this, so it's obviously just for clicks.

No.
It gave a clear error message that would have been resolved by just updating and upgrading before trying to install new packages with conflicting dependencies.
