Arch is the single best linux distribution for basically 99% of people unless you have a genuine honest to God edge case that REQUIRES you to use something else and any hate oriented towards it is born purely out of refusing to just quickly look up their issue on the wiki or carefully reading said wiki and there is zero proving me wrong on this.

>it's unstable
Complete meme, there's almost never any issues with bleeding edge packages and even if you DO somehow have an issue you can just downgrade said package and hold updates on it until it's fixed.
>it's too hard
Skill issue. Learn to read - it's no more complicated than any other distro the installation is debatably the hardest part of using Arch and even that isn't difficult.
>the community is toxic
It's toxic against questions asked which can be easily answered by just reading the wiki - naturally someone would be annoyed with the 80 millionth question about how to install the OS.

Just admit it - you don't use it because you either can't read or just don't wanna manage your own system - the latter of which is okay but the former is inexcusable mid wit behavior.

Arch's biggest problem is that upstream packages aren't named after what they do, they're named after random shit. What's the thing that makes printers work? cups. Cups of what? What's the file manager called? Dolphin!? That's a Wii emulator! For this reason alone most people who do more with their computer than broose can't use Arch as their first Linux.

This is why distros with preinstalled software are always shit. You have no idea what's actually on it and end up downloading duplicates of everything anyway. A distro should come with networking+HID drivers and a package manager.

Debian-based distros just work and compulsive updooting is retarded. I don't see the point in typing sudo pacman -Syu every few hours just for some minor changes that aren't user-facing at all.

Most people want games to work, and that means that the only correct choice is Gentoo, because prebuilt binaries literally are dysfunctional slop that, for example, crashes graphics drivers.
This used to happen on arch constantly. Meanwhile on Gentoo, my uptime is always over a month, because that's how long it takes for next kernel update.

If you update very seldomly, it breaks more often. At the very least you might be forced to manually update the keyring first. If the machine is not used much, arch makes less sense, especially if your other machines also don't.
It synergizes with RSS feed usage. Subscribing to arch news makes sense so in the rare event of a breakage, you are often prepared and now what to do.

today I updated my arch install after a month or so, just to break it. after troubleshooting for 20min or so on my phone and booting on the arch iso, I finally figured it out why: I saw a post on their website about linux-firmware breaking pacman and followed their instructions, but they only mention nvidia on there, I wasn't aware I needed a package for amdgpu and intel, particularly because I assumed the packages amd-ucode and intel-ucode already covered this since amdgpu is built in.
what is the difference between "microcode" and firmware then? why can't they not break stuff and require the user to go to their website for help? I spent too long gawking a screen with "could not find display lmfao" with no idea what I did wrong.

thanks for reading my blog btw, don't forget to like and subscribe.

The firmware thing is just two commands, and the update only fails to run if you don't do those commands. It doesn't break anything.
The microcode thing was a while ago, longer than a month back, and it required an optional change to how you run microcode in your mkinitcpio. You can leave it alone and nothing will break.
I think you just got a bit confused somewhere.

it's pretty much the best atm but you should learn how to fix it when shit goes wrong. some shit goes bad once in a while, updates that break shit, dependency changes and that kinds of shits. works nice until it doesn't, and if you don't know how to fix it then most normies will just rage wipe it all.
community...dunno, who gives a fuck. "toxic" is a pretty retarded word anyway. there's super technical people having to deal with entitled and lazy retards, sometimes they pop, it's pretty much understandable. don't think most of them get paid. or any of them lmao
