We aren't supposed to stand still for 8 hours either, and standing is arguably worse than sitting, because standing caused more blood to flow down into your legs. Prolonged periods of standing are are a major contributing factor to things like varicose veins etc in your legs. Not sure, you could argue that you could constantly move around, hop, and twister your legs etc while you are standing on the standing desk, but most people don't actually do that, and it's probably kinda impractical if you have to actually focus on deep work or have a meeting or something.
If you really care about not sitting for too long, you are probably better of taking tiny breaks to stretch and do a few jumps then you are getting a standing desk. Actually standing still for hours in a row fucking destroys your legs and will give you a full set of old person varicose vein legs before you hit 50. Or maybe even before 40.
