Yeah, as a euro I do in fact wish I had one of these. You can get window units fairly easily, but whole-house ductwork AC infrastructure is pretty rare where I live. Except in really recent developments with heat pumps that can also function as AC, I guess.

Temperatures here rarely used to get high enough to warrant spending real money on AC infrastructure this thorough. Now that climate change has changed this, retrofitting AC infrastructure like this into older houses is going to be a royal pain and a long and slow process.

The problem for yuropoors isn't the availability of ACs or the installation headaches, it's the cost. Yuropoors pay $0.4-50 PER kWh. It's insane. Running a fan costs them an arm and a leg. I pay $0.09 per kWh in Texas. I can run my AC and keep my 2000sq ft home a cool 68F for less than it costs a yuropoor to run a fan in his tiny shithole apartment. AND we Americans make 2-3x as much money as yuropoors. The game was rigged from the start.

Nah, it's not that bad. I pay $0.25 per kWh, which is a price that is still elevated due to the Ukraine war (though not nearly as much as it used to be). Expensive compared to what you're paying, yes, but not enough for the cost of AC to be a significant concern.

There are times of the year where I'm cooling my room while other family members are heating up theirs, so per-room HVAC makes far more sense. Not cheaper to run, you can get central AC that is just as efficient, and its so much better at getting moisture out of the air than a mini split.

mini splits are good, and I support them, but in a perfect world a central AC system is far, far superior.

Getting popular for high insulated home actually.

High insulated homes need no more than a couple kW heating/cooling AND they need per room ventilation. So you can just combine the heatpump with ventilation with heat recovery. No need for an external unit either, everything gets combined in one unit which goes in the insulated attick (open eaves are retarded).
