iirc it came out last year that she was the wife of some manager who worked there and he hired her a short time before the work was almost completed so she could pretend she was responsible for it

She was cool, but she really didn't do much if anything notable on Apollo, since, it was pretty much already done by the time she arrived.

I have worked in major cities and earned a salary not contributing much to society. Mostly just selling stuff for a profit. Here in my small town I have built homes and roads for society, and can seek remote employment as a programmer in any major city while keeping a low cost of living. The correct spelling is reminder.

Also, this image is a lie, Hamilton did not write this code and was appointed as an assistant director by her future husband. She did not lead the team either until after the software was completed. The pile of code in the image is multiple copies of the same code and Hamilton was even awarded the Medal of Freedom for achievements from Hal Laning falsely attributed to Laning.

This is one of those internet myths that persists despite it being completely false. Not saying that talented female programmers don't exist, but this story is a straight up lie.

Including asynchronus software and priority scheduling. Grace Hopper is definitely a better example, she invented COBOL and the concept of machine-independent languages. COBOL is still used to this day.

Her association with the military kept the left from recognizing her for the longest time. It's only now that Ada Lovelace's status is being called into question that they've started to pivot to Hopper.
Carol Shaw, the author of the best selling video game 'River Raid', is another authentic one. The revenue from that allowed her to retire at 35. Her husband, a giant in public key encryption, kept working and still consults to this day.

>Hamilton learned of the Apollo project in 1965 and wanted to get involved due to it being "very exciting" as a Moon program.[23] She joined the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory, which developed the Apollo Guidance Computer for the Apollo lunar exploration program. Hamilton was the first programmer hired for the Apollo project at MIT and the first female programmer in the project,[23][24] and later became Director of the Software Engineering Division.[25] She was responsible for the team writing and testing all on-board in-flight software for the Apollo spacecraft's Command and Lunar Module and for the subsequent Skylab space station.[26][27][18] Another part of her team designed and developed the systems software.[28] This included error detection and recovery software such as restarts and the Display Interface Routines (also known as the Priority Displays), which Hamilton designed and developed.[29]
