So /g/, how do you guys organise your image folders? I am trying to come up with a more constructive way to organise my reaction images/wallpapers/screenshots/etc as an alternative to just storing them in ~/Pictures/{topic}/{subtopic}. In terms of approaches I've considered the following:
>Creating a file naming scheme for holding useful metadata, then sorting those into folders by the highest level shared theme
This seems like the most obvious approach, but I feel like it quickly runs into problems. First of all, it doesn't really account for images that may fit under multiple categories (screenshots that are useful reaction images, etc). It also ends up being a problem with how specific I go, say if I tag characters in my touhou folder in the filename then I need to create a code to save space in the file name, document that, then keep that document at hand whenever I reference the file, it is just going to get messy very quickly.
>Use a database to manage metadata for each file
This is definitely the best and most comprehensive solution to end up with some kind of booru-style tagging system, but I'm not really aware of any that aren't complete shit. I guess I could do it myself.
>Be a retard and leave everything untagged and with no logical filenames in one massive folder
I would probably be happier but would get annoyed when I can't find the reaction image I need right now.
None of these solutions is perfect, so I am curious to know how you all manage.
