Now you install Arch instead of wasting your time compiling packages.

Lmao, I remember a year ago when I finally installed Gentoo and felt so proud of myself I wanted to show off on /g/. Welcome to the club, have fun using the best distro around. One tip I can give you, set your portage niceness to lazy (the Wiki explains it all).

Finish installing a comfy UI environment and start enjoying your computer. Go ahead and install what you want. That's the point of Gentoo, you install what you want, its your computer. Everyone else is sharecropper on globohomo's plantation.
There is no shame in installing binary packages and there are dedicated binary packages for most of the huge things and a whole new general binary package system now. Building Rust from source just sucks so don't bother.

The company's supposed to provide you with a computer. Linux is also a useful skill to have on a resume and more importantly.

Did you compile your own kernel?
Did you use an efistub rather than a bootloader?
Did you sign your kernels so you can't boot into a malicious kernel?

gentoo has binary repos now, they still advertise themselves as a "source based distro" still though
