How about not setting it to "brighter than the sun". An OLED will last for years if you keep the brightness low. Screen burn is exponential with brightness.

I bought this recently for 280AUD on sale
>https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008099275973.html
Which arrived yesterday, and it's actually really nice; haven't tried HDR yet or really played with the settings menu (which might be necessary for the best viewing experience, at least if this is anything like most OLED TVs), but the 120Hz refresh rate makes my PC feel more responsive in a way I've never really had before, and the colours/contrast are great.

Side note: It's also a remarkably premium product. There's no machining marks/scuffs or fitment issues anywhere, the screen has no dead pixels, also the box came with a colour printed manual plus a 30W USB-C power supply (I think it might even be GaN) and all the necessary cables of seemingly good quality. Pretty impressive compared to the last screen I bought off AliExpress, which wasn't even bad:

So do I. I maintain my OLEDs by not being an over the top moron. When I'm browsing and watching invidious/freetube videos and shit posting I keep my 42" C4 to the lowest brightness that's just right for my eyes and viewing. I only turn up the brightness when I'm playing vidya. Even then it depends on the game. Like when I'm playing Octopath Traveler 2 or Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake, I don't crank up the brightness, because it's not necessary and those games look really good at the settings I have them. Elden Ring, or Anno 1800, I may turn up the brightness a bit, still, nothing past 80 brightness, 85 Contrast.

Consider having a watch of this, if you're interested in how it's generally recommended to set up an LG OLED:
https://youtu.be/YQ9E7RK0gDM

When you go out and buy a new TV, since the HD CRT era you've always had to at least open the settings menu to disable motion smoothing, but HDR is such a huge mess you can't really trust the factory calibration to get that or even SDR right, and nowadays you need to fix like a dozen settings to get an acceptable accurate representation of the original content.

I've been using a 271qpx since last year browsing and doing normal shit most of the time. I use it everyday for around 8 to 10 hours. On the weekends some more hours than that. Some people here will tell you that by now my monitor shouldn't even fucking work. People have lost their fucking minds with this shit. I'm using RenoDX HDR with gaymes all the time and having the time of my life here as well.

If you're in an environment that's bright enough to where a high brightness is needed, OLED is pointless.
If you're in a dark environment and you set your brightness stupid high, enjoy migraines. You want really high brightness for highlights but not for the full fucking screen. The issue is that ABL in many OLED displays is too aggressive when setting them to the peak supported nits instead of sticking to the lower true black value. They're releasing OLED monitors that are getting 500 nits instead of 400 (more like 450) in true black mode. Still, properly set up HDR with 450 nits is still better than just having a brighter screen overall on SDR.
Another thing: perceived brightness on OLED is higher, so OLED nits cannot be often used to compare OLED with LCD displays.

He's wrong for sure, but OLED is good for SDR as well.
It's just HDR also needs brightness and OLED monitors are not amazing there. Peak 1000 nits is terrible on fullscreen and looks quite dim on scenes that aren't completely dark with some highlights here and there.

Burn-in is real and always will be. It's a limitation of technology. Thinking that OLED screens won't have burned pixels is like thinking that someone will invent a car tire that never wears out... it's not going to happen.
And yes, you won't notice the burned pixels during normal use. My aunt's OLED TV is over 4 years old at this point, and since she only watches movies and series sporadically, it's impossible to notice any problems with the image (and even if there are imperfections, the image is still better than any LCD panel I've ever used). But if you use your screen in a hardcore mode, such as leaving the same program on the screen for 14 hours or some shit (I do this often when I'm working), then you're asking for trouble.

People who buy OLED monitors aren't the type to keep one past year 5~7, especially when better panels are being released every 2~3 years.
There's not a single PC monitor worth keeping forever atm, OLED, miniLED, VA, IPS, etc.
0 end-game monitors.

You could argue for one of the 4K IPS-black panels for productivity, but you'll want a second display for media/gaming.

The organic materials in OLED degrade over time, faster if these monitors are set at high brightness levels, run hot, or are exposed to UV light.

A higher pixel density is better, but it's more demanding.
In my case I'm fine with 1440p. I used to suffer from being obsessed with how fonts would look on screen due to low PPI. 27'' 1440p is enough in my opinion.

Don't bother with 4K at 27". 1440 OLED at 27", or 4K OLED at 32". If you're currently on 1080p, I bet your GPU is shit so just go for 1440p.

If you can afford it years down the line (because you will not want to go back), go with 1440p 27'' OLED.
I would recommend the 271QPX E2 if you can get it for cheap.

Owner of a 55 inch CX, C1x2 (55 and 65 inch) 80 inch A90J and a 42 inch C4. NONE of them have burn in and I use all of them at varying intervals and they ALL receive similar if not the same level of care. Of course usage varies. I'm on the C4 more than the others. The one that is least used is the A90J. The C4 and CX are used simultaneously sometimes, when I'm gaming and watching a show on my jellyfin server. Like right now, I'm playing vidya and watching Black Sails. I have 0 plans on buying another oled anytime soon and I got ALL of my OLEDs FREE! Because I know the game OLED manufacturers play, with the incremental "improvements" and "forced obsolescence". All my LG OLEDs are jailbroken and I have 2 service menu remotes to maintain them.
