An image is only lossless if you can trap the electrons but you need to have voltage ripple for peak soul capture.
Quantum computing needs to advance to a state in which we can see an image as intended. We may get there in another 30 or 40 years if we can stop fighting each other.

Good enough to save space with my autism Minecraft screenshots without introducing artifacts, i haven't found a reason to switch to something else. It's an archival format, you can always grab a shell alias to shit out anything else from there.

When you view an image your brain doesn't remember the compression artifacts, so all images are effectively lossless.
