Are these bladeless fans actually quiet? What are their disadvantages compared to a traditional fan with blades? I know they cost more, but imagine that not being a point

I have their heating+cooling fan without the filter. Itโ€™s run fine for 5 years, I give it pretty heavy use during winter. Price isnโ€™t even bad if you catch the sales they sometimes put up on eBay. The true tradeoff is that itโ€™s less powerful than traditional fans/heaters and thatโ€™s just the reality of having a tiny little fan in the base. Great for a bedroom, not great for a whole basement.

Ive got the round version. Itโ€™s pretty quiet but it doesnt blow air as well as the more noisy bladed fans. They look nice but they fucking suck ass repairing. Its borderline impossible to open up that bs to clean it or replace the motor.

Why didn't you just google "how do Dyson fans work"? You could have had your answer in under 5 minutes with technical explanations.

And why ask on /g/ of all places? Most of the people here have no skills or life experience.

It goes in the options field.

higher the setting, louder it gets. More quiet than a larger, more powerful fan. There's no magic.

yes
a lot of normies think that somehow because it's a "bladeless" fan that means it doesn't have a motor and it's using some fancy pants ion thruster electromagnetic induction pulse jet technology to move the air LMAO

they have a small fan that runs at such a speed that you feel practically no noise at all. but the air flow it generates makes them just an expensive toy and they are not good for what they were created for. that is why they are not sold in any store.

high speed increases noise because more vibration is generated.
motors with larger blades generate less noise with the same power supply than the same motor with smaller blades. that's why pc fans are generally large (even in the power supply)

I have a Dyson Hot+Cool. It's not any quieter than a normal fan. The main advantage of it is that I don't have to worry about my pet bird killing itself on the fan blades because the blades are hidden in the base.

Actual disadvantage is there's less torque so to say so you can't have absolutely anything in front of it.
>>105811971
There's no gimmicks, just that the rotating blade part spins faster and looks vaguely like a turbo compressor. Case you ever open one up.
>>105813931
Sounds like a bad product then, usually they move more air with less noise.

Which wasn't all that cheap either, and I can assure, is very definitely not fucking quiet. Dysons maybe better, but I suspect theres inherently some racket involved.

No, they are noisy and clog up easily. The use a small PC fan in the base to push air through the hoop which takes advantage of an effect of a liquid wanting follow along with other quickly moving liquid. They are more of a toy than an actual appliance. If you want consumer grade, get a vornado, if you want better, get a metal fan.

>Are these bladeless fans actually quiet?
no
they just sound different
and they have blades
its just in the base
smaller blades mean a higher pitch sound
normal fan blades are bigger so they are "louder" but at a lower pitch/tone
i like dyson bladeless because of how they look and how slim they are
also because of the bladeless design you can actualy filter the air it draws in and blows at your whereas with other traditional fans you cant
you would have to buy an air purifier to clean all the air in the room and then have the fan blow it at you
oh and its about have the "power" of a normal fan
you want a torrent of air blowing at you? dont get a bladeless.
or do and make it sound like a jet engine by removing the filter
on one hand they should be way cheaper
but on the other hand i have tried other cheaper bladeless knock offs and they are worse than the dyson so idk

Knocked one of these off a table the other day while it was turned on. The fan must have banged against the case while spinning because it became bent and jammed itself. The metal is quite hard, I've bent it back a bit but it still vibrates itself around and won't stay still on a surface now.

Pros: constant stream of air, small footprint
Cons: expensive, loud, looks like made for women/gays, breaks easily

Just get a large normal fan that can run slow.

Are there any actually bladeless fans? Like stuff that ionizes and moves air along some current/magnetic field or something.
