I heard you guys describe bulldozer/AMD FX as hardware SMT, why is that? And how is hardware SMT different from I guess regular hyperthreading (software SMT?) I mean, what even IS hyperthreading and why does Intel keep trying to kill it?

it differs from "regular hyperthreading" in that amd literally scammed everyone by making each pair of cores share a single float unit lmfao
