How many years until AI can replace basically every developer? Realistic estimates

pajeets writing the same website / CRUD over and over again: already replaced

any meaningful compsci level engineering, like inventing new languages / concepts, AI dev, cybsec (beyond log monkey), complex proofs, designing critical systems, hardware level stuff, ..., basically anything that hasn't been done before: not in the foreseeable future

> inb4 GPQA etc
I said "hasn't been done before"

Probably 50 years. Maybe more. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either retarded or hasn't used AI for anything more serious than making tutorial-level code.

Have you ever used Claude? That shit makes everything with very little input. You can code everything with very basic knowledge. That's why CEOs are using more and more AI and not more developers.

I think one thing is for sure, if you suck ass at coding, you have been replaced. There's no longer a need for retards that can only write boilerplate code.

Then please explain to me why the job market is now screwed up? Juniors positions are basically inexistent. Why are big companies investing so much in AI? Why does the government want to deregulate AI if it was just a fad or a tool? No offense but that sounds cope to me

Never said it's a fad.
The reason is they hired tons of people during COVID to benefit from the helicopter money from the government during the time and now they're firing the excess after it ended.
Now they're waiting for FED to cut rates to start hiring again which would have already happened if not for Trump and his retardation.

Because you suck. There's no demand for retards because we can just have AI write stuff that isn't critical.

I just asked Claude to fix an authentication issue and he inserted some lines that would have cleared local storage every time the user logs in kek. This tech is going to destroy companies. But I guess in all fairness junior coders do crazy shit like this too.

Honestly major problem with LLMs is they dont "notice mistakes" when they are generating. They only tend to notice after you've pointed it out, so shit like this gets through. AKA they're not that teachable, they're locked in the state they came. Most decent juniors can at least become good programmers in time.

its been srewed up for a very long time you just didnt know because you werent in the pool yet. AI has nothing to do with any of the problems plaguing the job market especially when it comes to software jobs.

Yeah I agree with this. I think honestly there will be a correction where jobs open back up a bit. But the hiring process will be less like leet code and more like an IQ test. Companies are gonna want new hires that show promise in the critical thinking department. This sounds nice but it's a lot more difficult to "learn" how to dev or troubleshoot something in a complex system. The old way of using junior positions to offload monotonous work and ease them into complex stuff is just over.

AI is a great excuse for companies because it looks good to investors. Companies aren't growing right now so they have to delete positions to make it look like they're still making money.

It'll never replace all developers, but a lot of code is boring shit that takes more time to type out than think of.
>>105849169
The lack of junior jobs was an issue before AI. Bean counters are only focused on saving beans for this quarter's financial results. They don't care beyond that. So, they get excited about outsourcing to India and not training junior devs. The time spent on training costs money now and the shit code coming out of India won't affect them until next quarter or even farther into the future. It's the death of the american workplace. This is all downstream of shit like elimination of pensions and the HR revolution. An Indian willing to work cheap and lie on their resume with HR buzzword bingo is going to win over a junior dev. The technical hiring manager won't even see your honest resume.
