Also I don't follow what you mean by 'stringing up a scripts', Comfy is UI node based, so you don't need to write a script, anymore than you need to do so in trainers with GUI's like OneTrainer, Kohya etc.

I can't argue against this, if you have a trainer you like then there's really no reason to change...

Unless, your trainer doesn't support something you want to use, and/or the resulting trained results can't be used in programs like Comfy/Forge etc.

The latter is my primary concern, comfyanon has stated that Comfy will only support its own lora format going forward (it won't remove existing support, but for new models it will only be their format) so unless other trainer software bends the knee and use their format, you won't be able to use it in Comfy, and Forge is basically in maintenance mode so who knows if any new lora formats will be supported.

There's ai toolkit as well, but that's probably slower than diffusion pipe, OneTrainer should have support once the final Chroma release is out (in 8 epochs), likely Kohya will as well.

its neat how the lightx2 lora is technically a t2v lora but works just fine for i2v wan gens or vace or whatever. now I can do 480p gens in like a minute or 720p in 2 minutes. if you do a slightly smaller size (ie, 720x600 for a square-ish image) it's even faster than default size.

for me I just use the model and it works fine in reforge, vpred didnt work right in auto1111 (my older install) and gave me random noise outputs, noobai 1.0 vpred worked fine in reforge. default, didn't do anything special.

I use wainsfw v14 for anime gens and that is EPS I think but vpred models give deeper colors/blacks depending what you gen, but I have a bunch of models to use: they are free so why not.

No one’s stopping you from fixing that. Meanwhile, OpenAI has that dataset. That’s why they're better at this. There is nothing that suggests that Dall-e has any architectural secrets you don't already have access to, the difference is they don't sit around complaining all day.

Safety up to the point that Gemma 3 local wastes one or more paragraphs every single time even when playing just some Dungeons and Dragons with normal rules and world book, it will often avoid certain words and always prefill paragraph with nonsense disclaimers "I am absolutely pushed to my limit here... Anyone who's written/is writing software that can talk to multiple LLM providers... what approach are you using to abstract them?
I've considered
1. Define a custom format for messages. Write converters to and from each provider's message types. Use only your custom format when storing and processing messages.
2. Same as 1, but store the provider-native types and convert them back when reading them from DB.
3. Use a third-party abstraction library like Langchain, store its message format.
4. Only support the OpenAI format. Use LiteLLM to support other providers.

I'm heavily leaning towards (4) but would appreciate any heard learned experience here.

Very much doubt that, main use of Comfy will always be inference, there's nothing to gain by preventing other trainers from working in Comfy, as long as they use the Comfy format so that there's no extra work.

I also doubt Comfy will end up being the only trainer in wide use, lots of people are very comfortable with their current trainer of choice (Kohya, OneTrainer, etc) and are likely very reluctant to change.

I have an A770 16GB and a Lunar Lake laptop, mostly running Linux flavors but the laptop also has Windows. It works now with either installing Intel's special Pytorch Extension or using Pytorch 2.7 or nightly on both OS. Most custom nodes work and the ones that don't are either tied very close to Nvidia specific Pytorch stuff like CUDA or are edge cases. Speed is still a bit iffy but it is faster than a 3060. Well worth what I paid for it which was around $250 bucks.

Characters and styles are a shame, but we can at least get very good stuff out of a LoRA. We previously couldn't even get close to Dalle's prompt following capabilities till Chroma showed up. In fact, after Flux came out, I didn't think local would see the light of day for at least 5+ years. The Dalle that came out pre censorship could depict just about anything you could imagine, given you had a proper description of it. If you did not mind the filter, or the fact that you were fighting ClosedAI's censorship, for a long time it rendered every local model obsolete. Dalle threads also had an edge on every local thread, and it was quite obvious. It had unparalled knowledge of anatomy that you couldn't get out of LoRAs or SD based models (showing its age). The same is now true of Chroma (and even better since it's SOTA at realism). In fact, if not for Chroma, catching up to Dalle without a decent base model would seem impossible. We are lucky that the Flux pretrain was already so damn good in spite of its censorship. The hardest hurdle to catch up to Dalle is out of the way. The model we have now is much more technically capable of the Dalle kino from years ago, so a simple LoRA or sets of them are enough to mimic it while we wait for improvements or a better model.
