I don't think people understand, AI CANNOT be sentient, not because we aren't intelligent enough to create it or we don't have the technology, but because computer hardware is physically incapable of producing consciousness. Our brain is a chemoelectric machine reliant on trillions of receptors of which information both chemical and electric is exchanged. A purely electrical, binary system can never be conscious. It will always only be one of two states in a specific order. It will never be more conscious than a series of numbers on a piece of paper.

It's arrogant to say anything like that is impossible since we are talking about a black box that we don't yet understand. But I get what you're saying, a lot about how humans work, biologically, isn't 1:1 with computers. There are extra dimensions than just the simple electrical signals and logical switches. DNA/RNA encoding is a good example, it doesn't work like computer code at all, there is more than one thread or sequence it's multi dimensional.
