For me, I can't do without Handbrake, yt-dlp, and ffmpeg. What about you? What are some small nifty apps that are a must have in your environment?

It's great. I use it to sync files between my desktop, laptop, and phone. It's very convenient.

llama-cpp
ssh which basically solves networking

If you *must* have general bidirectional sync it's probably the best solution. IMO what you really want is git for files you write yourself and then some kind of distributed object store for archiving binary files. You don't need full bidirectional sync with deletion support, it just really complicates things.

I needed something like this, I didn't know ytarchive was a thing. Does this do well with 2-3hr videos like video podcasts? Does it have built in sleep/delay settings to prevent rate limiting? What kind of rate limiting restrictions are there and what settings do you use to prevent a ban? Is it better to use a cookie/login? The podcast I want to archive probably has about 1/10 of its videos requiring a sign up.

I've archived 2 hour long livestreams live with ytarchive (to make sure I get the stream if it's deleted after broadcast). I don't know about the other stuff you asked, never gotten a ban.

Does it only do streams or can it archive an entire channel like you said? What options do you use with it?

>>105856710
It's either yt-dlp or ytarchive that can download entire channels. I can't remember, probably yt-dlp then.

You list it as if you can't do without it and don't even know what it does? Damn, dude.

I can't do without it when I need it, but I only rarely need it. I use yt-dlp every day, ytarchive like once a month, what can I say.

I remeber when I was a windows user 2 years ago and I used to think like this but now at worst what I typically run is a command like yt-dlp -x --no-playlist url and now I always think to myself "was I seriously that retarded?".

I know you're shitposting but you can bind commands you use a lot to aliases or certain keys. When I want to download a yt video I just copy the url and press Super+Y, yt-dlp does the rest. I also use the alias "tz" to create a .tar.zst file out of a directory, so I just do "tz maymays/" and voilà.
