My priority if I'm buying a gaming laptop is usually battery life.

I'm not a moron, I'm not going to do any gaming off the plug, but if I want to buy a portable computer I want it to be of some value if I'm using it in situations where I'd want a portable computer.

nta, but yes there are thin gaming laptops. they're good for portability, but at the tradeoff of horrendous battery life and shit thermals. my thin gaming laptop can do like 30 minutes of gaming if it's not plugged, and it thermal throttles like crazy no matter what (yes, it's been repasted, yes the fans are clean)

Yes, I can. Gayming laptops are not tested against Operating Systems different than Windows, thus running Loonix on them is an absolute pain in the ass

One big problem with gaming laptops is that even with modern features like advanced optimus turning off your dgpu off etc., your dgpu still turns on when you connect to your hdmi port which is pretty bad for business people as dgpu on = no battery life. Also most gaming laptops have problems with linux drivers and as such stuff like webcam or speakers often don't work. Thermals and battery life are really good in todays age though, as long as the dgpu is off and you use power efficiency modes for your os and cpu, maybe a slight undervolt and you are good to go.

Gaming laptops are meme that break all the time. My old thinkpad never broke, but all the retarded gaming brands of laptops of my brother and colleagues from work always had problems in few years top.

The most pathological laptop was XMG Core 15 from 2020 or 2021. I don't remember exactly. It not only didn't work correctly. It never worked to begin with. No amount of flashing bioses and firmware. Neither special version drivers from the site nor current drivers make it work stable. The fact that they name the new models the same as their older models is pure retardation too but whatever. Neither Windows nor Linux works properly.

It randomly shutdowns due to some retarded memory access violation/invalidation error or something like that. Sometimes it can last a few days without any issue and the other time it crashes several times a day. Fucking overpriced piece of shit. And when it was sent for repair the technician's conclusion was there is nothing wrong, because of course it's fucking random and they didn't had a problem during their tests or just lied.

If you are buying a laptop for games you are a moron. It is overpriced, underpowered, shitty garbage, even worse than OEM PCs.

I don't know what to get. While cheap thinkpads look pretty good they have poor 45% NTSC screens where I live. Same with thinkbooks. For the price of a T14 I might as well get a macbook air. Not sure about other brands.

Business laptops have such poor quality nowadays because retarded corpos will buy them up no matter what.

It's true. Gaming laptops have better thermal solutions which make them more suitable for serios work and sustained load. Business laptops are for spreadsheet warriors slowly dying in a cubicle somewhere

Skill issue. Qubes OS runs splendidly on my Thinkpad P16 Gen2 with i7-13850HX, 192GB RAM, 2x 4TB nvme, and RTX 3500 Ada 12GB VRAM. I updated its EFI last week, just in case I get glownigged while out shopping.
