I'm getting a framework 16 laptop as soon as they come out with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 motherboard that way i can patiently wait for the rtx 5090 gpu module. QC for framework sucks as well, I had a 13 last year and it was shit. Their official forums are full of stupid "fixes" and "workarounds" to fix manufacturing problems like the shitty monitor cables coming loose inside the hinge. And it costs about the same as a MacBook.

I really want to get one of these but its hard to justify when the base m4 macbook air is about as powerful as the ryzen 5 or 7 3xx framework 13 while being less expensive...

It took me about 20 minutes to get the bottom cover off, get the 5 year old drive out, and get a new drive in. The total cost to me was about 50 dollars. SSDs are consumable parts. They WILL die. Every time you write data to one, they are wearing down.

If this happened on my Macbook I would be down about 1000 dollars instead of 50. You're paying a premium for a toy.
