RTX 50 Super rumors: 5070 Ti Super 24GB, 5080 Super 24GB, 5070 Super 18GB

KTC M27T6 (1440p miniLED) promotional pricing until August ($300 US)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F7Q22V3W
Review link (use translator): https://chimolog.co/ktc-m27t6/

>Omissions
RTX 5070 Ti: buy if you need CUDA, if you value DLSS/Reflex that highly, and if the 5060 Ti 16GB or 5070 isn't performant enough.
RTX 5070: buy if it's reasonably priced & if you plan to work around potential VRAM bottlenecks.
RX 9070 non-XT: current 9070 prices in the US are too close to the 9070XT's.

>Product Notice
AOC Q27G40XMN: nice budget 1440p miniLED monitor but inconsistent QC.
Bad one causes DisplayHDR setting to look overbrightened and desaturated when applying the best local dimming option.

Gigabyte RTX 50 & RX 9000 video cards: thermal gel has QC issues, Gigabyte claims only early production batches were affected.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/update-on-thermal-putty-on-gigabyte-graphics-cards-after-further-storage-oil-separation-to-an-alarming-extent-and-silence-as-a-strategy/

Avoid updating Gigabyte motherboard's RGB controller firmware, it can disable board features such as Q-Flash Plus.

well, 1440p and 4k is a meme since those monitors are usually larger than 24 inches. Which means that, if you consume 1080p content (which is 99.99% of content on the internet) you are basically watching it at around 60 ppi or something at 32".

So you're watching poop pixels. For gaming it can be justified somewhat, it has incredibly diminishing returns though and will fuck up other areas like YouTube and pirated movies.

Overall 1080p is king until after some decades when 1440p and 4k is normal everywhere.

Chinese monitor manufacturers undercut the LCD market and made 1440p gaming monitors much more affordable.
You can buy a decent 1440p gaming monitor for around $200, and a video card like the 9060 XT 16GB is good enough to run newer games @ 1440p rasterized settings.
You can keep a separate 1080p/4K monitor for media & productivity.

You do know that when you watch 1080p content on 1440p screen, which is usually larger than 24 inches, it will be stretched over a 27 inch or higher display? Maybe you can try to calculate what that PPI will be.

To help you, lower PPI is bad.

The most important is to do some web research to see if your interested model has serious QC issues.
The LG 32GR93U-B 4K gaming monitor looks nice on paper & from reviews, but this one is known to break down after a while, which happened to RTINGS' review unit.
It's especially important if you're buying from a monitor brand that isn't known to provide firmware updates.

Real response time test results are important for gaming, and I would also check the monitor's picture quality (both out of the box and post-calibration).

They're not 4k niggers are just unhinged retards and every poorfag who thinks bigger number always better has a 1440p 120hz chink panel.
To my knowledge they don't make mini led or oled 1080p (regular desktop sized) monitors though. Unless you're into ultra high refresh rates there's not really a reason to buy them anymore past like the $150ish mark.

so your only argument is lower quality content will look worse stretched over a larger area
problem is a higher quality display will be inherently better than the 1080p alternative which makes the whole point useless

Your "inherently better" claim only holds for native 1440p content. For everything else? Youโ€™re paying more for a worse experience. Modern upscaling helps, but it canโ€™t magic back lost detail. If you prioritize videos/movies that max out at 1080p, PPI degradation is a real-world flaw โ€“ not a theoretical one.

>Your "inherently better" claim only holds for native 1440p content.
no it's literally comparing a shittier panel with worse, contrast, color, sharpness everything compared to a better display
you are viewing the same quality but at different distance is the only point you are making which you are defending a 24" display from, it's not worse ppi, it's the same data just at a different size, minus upscaling issues or whatever, I would not even talk about a 1440p but say a 4k panel will literally have no downside
>Youโ€™re paying more for a worse experience
buying a inherently better technology with your only use case being a native 1080p on a native panel being your whole selling point, which a 4k display will do even better, higher ppi even less visible pixels
it's just a total meme at this point
>Modern upscaling helps, but it canโ€™t magic back lost detail.
you are viewing the same data only difference is a worse panel
>If you prioritize videos/movies that max out at 1080p, PPI degradation is a real-world flaw โ€“ not a theoretical one.
your entire point hinges on one point that it even loses on and is not applicable in real world either
very strange take

is cache size completely pointless on an HDD that is solely used to store & playback movies? The file sizes will always exceed it and you're never re-accessing a previous segment. it also doesn't matter for writes since you want that shit to hit the medium which means it can't sit in cache

A few questions:

1. Should low profile cards ALWAYS be chosen over normal size cards for micro-tower cases?

2. I have a GTX 1660 6GB, I was thinking of getting more efficient GPU to replace it, but the only one my OS can support at most is the RTX 30 series, and the only one I can find there that would be decent is the RTX 3050 6GB. The problem however is that it scores lower on benchmark, does 1000 points make enough of a difference? I know it shows the fps difference but that could still be different from game to game

Just get a 5060 and call it a day. If you're an ultra mega poorfag and can't find $300 it's time to rip a better delta psu from a dumpster and buy a 2070/super + housefire adaptors. Those power supplies literally never die
Also passmark isn't really useful for gpus at this point, check out like steel nomad light or time spy if anything, preferably just several different game benchmarks. The 1660 is basically even to a 3050 6gb, the 8gb is more a super.

>1. You could probably get away with a 650w power supply
rationale behind 850w is to keep the load closer to 50% (peak draw is estimated at ~440w) and that i don't want to buy a new PSU for the next upgrade whenever that happens

>2. Compare 6800 with newer gen cards at the same price, particularly anything 7700xt performance or above
>6800 I don't dig at all, 5 years old, 250W, unless you already have it or getting it for a banger price
i have a few* cards tracked right now and the 6800 really seems to have the best perf:cost ratio while still being above the threshold of performance i want. and it has 16 gb too!

yea no worries, i already have an M.2 SSD and i'm leaving the door open for another one in the future. currently undecided on a case but i might honestly just try a jank setup without a case first to get a feel for if i'd like an open case some time later

>overkill desu youre fine for 20 years as long as you dont play aaa slop
>1080p I assume is at least 144hz where you will feel cpu bottlenecks and hitches
>Also what monitor do you plan on using? (currently looking for one)
i just have shitty 1080p60 Philips monitor that has worked perfectly fine for 8 years lol. and i'll keep using it 'til it dies, because i don't play games for the cinematic experience, and i never touch AAA. if the build is overkill, it's because i really like longevity

>if you already have it I'd try to get rid of it and get a 9070 or something
i don't sadly, and the 9070 is equivalent to about 760 USD which is way beyond me

Whats the price difference between the two? Do you need the 10%-30% performance over the 5070 ($550)? Are you a pedophile who "needs" local ai performance but are too poor for a 4090/5090?
Me personally for I would still go Nvidia just because historically trends suggest it will age a lot better, then you get things like actually usable frame gen + RT performance (9070xt slower than a 5070 in path tracing)

Hey has anyone else had issues with HDR flickering like when it is turned on and off? It used to never happen to me, now it frequently happens when I click from one monitor over to a fullscreen video player or game. Now I kind of get the fullscreen thing with videoplayers, but games have all been borderless window forever and that prevented this from ever happening, and something changed a couple months ago and its happening all the time.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or how to fix it? I assume it somehow relates to an nvidia update and their garbage overlay.

NVIDIA practically maxed out the available dGPU market share, and they don't want to sell good (low margin) $200~400 video cards to convince Maxwell/Pascal/Turing owners to upgrade to new RTX cards or to attract more price-conscious gamers.

RTX 50 Super's rumored VRAM upgrade shows NVIDIA is pivoting GeForce towards local AI users.
Their RTX 50 spec sheet also backs up this move, it shows shit like AI TOPS & memory bandwidth over CUDA core count and boost clocks.
They are going to charge more money for those 24Gb GDDR7 chips.
The growth driver NVIDIA is searching for GeForce is higher margin SKUs.

Hey guys, a friend of mine recently built a new PC, and his 5070 TI sparked and started smoking on the first boot. I initially thought he might have plugged his GPU into one of the CPU ports on his PSU instead of a PCIe slot, but he has a PSU with interchangeable ports. The PC is now working fine with just integrated graphics and without the GPU installed. I've only built PCs with AMD GPUs, so I'm not too familiar with the new 12-pin connector. Do you have any ideas why his GPU decided to self-destruct?

the 12 pin only fits into a single slot on the PSU so you can't mix it up. if you're using the adapter (you said it's new so he shouldn't be) then maybe he put them in the wrong slor or used custom cables that didn't match the PSU, though you claim against the slot thing. the #1 reason they flame out is because it doesn't get inserted far enough into the GPU. there should be no gap between the cable and the plug. also if he bent the fuck out of the cable right at the connector to make it fit he could have messed up the contact

hmm, i just increased my voltage on the cpu earlier today while overclocking it to 4.8ghz and got pretty nice results. Also tested out FanControl for the first time earlier today and my cpu was only at 60-65c while not going over 50% load for both stellar blade and satisfactory, so was pretty happy with those results. Think i had 1.2v on cpu before i changed it to 1.3 and core voltage offset to 0,120v.

For the GPU idk how i would go on about undervolting that... Did try out msi afterburner a bit earlier and when running stress test i couldnt move the voltage thing, should i be reducing the power limit % temperature on it? its sitting at stock atm and has been for 8 years on my 1080TI

are the pcie 8 pins it came with reversable? The adapter the gpu comes with is either a 'direct into psu' one or it expects the psus cables to be plugged into it. If the psu's cables are reversable than you can go direct into it, if they aren't then the pinout may differ and you can't go directly into it even if the gpus adapter physically fits

meh, it'll do unless you want pathtracing
just set a global framerate cap with rtss and it'll never hit 300w
however, this kind of "no upgrades" build is not a thing you do with a limited budget
limited budget you buy used/bang for buck things that hold value, resell and upgrade as you find deals
you could buy a used 1080p60 build every year for like 4 years with the budget of the all-new build you'd have to get today to last you that long

Do you want to replace the whole thing or just get a few parts? I'd recommend something with a 9070xt/5070ti and then get a medium rig like a 7800x3D or even less. Depending what you want, you could even get an am4 one with 5700x3d.

Fractal's Momentum fans (120mm & 140mm) are pretty damn good, especially the 140mm model.
The only negative about the 120mm version is that it vibrates hard at max RPM, but very few people run their case fans @ max speed to experience this issue.
Price isn't too scammy considering the quality of the fans ($22), the 140mm Momentum can beat the Noctua G2 & be Quiet Silent Wings 4.

my 4TB ssd for my data died after 6 months, i was able to buy another one, plug it in without having to access BIOS at all, do the new-drive setup, then copy-paste it all back onto the new one from my backup. Without my pc crashing more than once from the inital ssd death. (Teamgroup ssd btw).

Its obscenely convenient, and im over the slow-loading of physical hdds. Thats for data archiving and nothing else.

Thermal throttling = CPU cuts clocks below base to stay safe. Usually occurs when your cooler is badly mounted or defective. With that said, the stock PPT is 162W which can easily be cooled with air so he's incorrect. Not to say that an AIO is bad; stronger cooling will help with noise and the larger mass of the water will let you smooth out the load spikes.

They're within 10% of each-other across the board. Unless you have some hyper-specific use in mind just buy the cheaper one. Hell, if you're just gaming, or other low intensity tasks, don't buy either one of them because you won't realise any performance gain vs. a midrange HMB drive.

I meant the RAM RGB lights. If those turn on its not an indication that they are working correctly. But if no error sign is being displayed for the RAM, try getting another PSU.

>psus are so expensive
They are not. And if you have to get another "no brand" again it might still last you for some years. Try borrowing one if you can for troubleshooting.

In the context of gaming, is there any point in getting a Ryzen 5 5600/X/XT over a Ryzen 5 3600 at 1440p? They're basically the same at this resolution or higher, at least FPS-wise, from what benchmarks are showing. Are there any other noticeable differences between the two? Like smoothness and responsiveness, etc. Surely the newer architecture makes some kind of difference, other than FPS?

Which is relatively irrelevant, because Ryzen CPUs do not benefit from RAM being faster than 3600-3800 (rarely 4000, but that's usually APU) MT/s.

A common occurence with Ryzen 1000/2000 CPUs, not so much with 3000 series. From my personal experience, Ryzen 3600 CPUs work mostly fine RAM-wise, the only caveats being that it's quite rarely that FCLK on those exceeds 1800, therefore there's no reason to go above 3600 MT/s whatsoever, and in 4 DIMM 300/400 series chipset mobo configs they would sometimes have trouble going above 3466.

>1995: 486DX and first Pentium CPUs โ€” almost completely useless in any capacity around 2005
>2005: Athlon 64 and Pentium 4 CPUs โ€” mostly irrelevant for gaming in 2015, especially the latter; can still be used for simple tasks

my only issue with rgb is the lack of a widely adopted standardized rgb api that can be managed through the os directly. instead what we have to deal with is 100000 custom implementations that comes with their own security problems that also steals a lot of cpu cycles when using non-static rgb patterns

If you buy a motherboard now it was made this year and have a BIOS update from this year as well. Any asrock issues are from last year's BIOS which are not even available anymore.

Also if you need to update your BIOS without a CPU you do BIOS Flashback with a USB drive formatted to FAT32.

I get the appeal of having your PC double as decoration, but sacrificing performance/durability and obsessing over cable management, visually matching parts, and shit like vertical GPU mounting just to get the same gaymen fishtank everyone else has is laughable.

Regarding the 9800X3D, you may have to set custom CPU fan curves, lower the CPU's thermal limits, and consider setting the CPU to eco mode if you plan to air cool it relatively silently.
>>105842180
>>105842276

If you're a noise schizo, it's okay to have this CPU running at 75~80ยฐC constantly.

AIOs like the new Liquid Freezer III Pro might run loud without a custom fan curve.
People are saying the P12 Pro fan gets pretty loud at above 1200RPM or so.

Are there any guides I should reference for this specific setup/build on a B850?

I can run 6400-6600M/T with AI EXPO BOOST(should I just use regular EXPO profiles/high bandwidth mode instead?) but kinda wanna stick to the baseline 6000-3000u/mclk-2000flck for max stability? or stay on/try 6400/6600-32000-2133? and just fuck with the timings...?

This means fuck all if the memory controller can't run at 1:1 MEMCLK:UCLK ratio.
Read version 0.5 of Buildzoid's timing presets, don't set tREFI too high if you're not actively cooling the memory modules.

What is your source image? Does it look bad in these test videos? Make sure Windows' HDR setting is on (Windows Key + Alt + B)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVvEISFw9w0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njX2bu-_Vw4

You are generally advised to turn on HDR only when you're playing HDR-supported media/games.

NTA but if you want a protip hack to tame temps/noise on 9800X3D do not set PBO to motherboard or auto. Just do manual and set it to something like 145/124/128. Much better temps instant of instant spiking to 95c, better perf, and this is without CO.

Ahh yes, I forgot to mention but I did set it in DIV1 1:1 mode and it booted just fine on 6400mt/3200u/mclk/2133fclk. Stability wise though I'm not sure, but it is achievable so far.

Cheers with the guide I've been going through some of his stuff recently and it's breddy good learning experience, its just messing with timings that's got me irked.

For Windows they use the the wrong gamma for HDR. It can only be fixed using a custom ICC profile. On Linux it just works as long as you have AMD and the app supports it (MPC-HC or game)

If you have an M-Die kit, don't copy Buildzoid's faster A-die guides. (anything above 6400MT/s)
IIRC, 16Gb DDR5 Hynix M-Die can set tighter timings near 6000MT/s, but it can't clock as high as A-Die.

Cavitation in the pump, can happen even if your unit is mounted correctly. My AIO started to make those noises after a few weeks, but I discovered that it tends to happen at certain RPMs and when the tubes are pulled or not-pulled in a very subtle way. So I just adjusted the pump speed slightly down and the tube position, seems to be working out so far.

Fluid dynamics is a hard job.

The case chassis is old. The front panel's fan mount partially obstructs the airflow of the bundled Momentum fans.
Not a deal breaker for normal people.
The Meshify 3 uses a newer case chassis that doesn't have this issue.

The bundled Mometum fans are a high-tier performer ($60 value).

Not him, but the Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro has a white A-RGB model.
This AIO isn't easy to install btw, check installation videos to understand what you're getting into.
https://youtu.be/zfffNRTOZCc?t=1301

People also complain that the fans are loud at higher RPMs, you want to keep these fans running at 1000 RPM or below.
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hYXMnQ/arctic-liquid-freezer-iii-pro-a-rgb-360-77-cfm-liquid-cpu-cooler-acfre00188a

I still think it's a good AIO if you're willing to work around those cons.

You are grossly overpaying for those white memory kits.
