Brave works okay for me.

Never used their cryptoshit and you shouldnโ€™t either but the โ€œsupport alternatives to chromiumโ€ ship sailed a long time ago. And frankly Mozilla have done more harm than good for a long time now and need to fuck off already.

Will switch to ladybird if/when it becomes a realistic option.

You can actually disable that. And more shit can be disabled starting version 1.82.x.

https://support.brave.app/hc/en-us/articles/360039248271-Group-Policy

And once Web3 can be disabled from settings it will be 100% perfect for my needs.

Switched from Chrome to Brave. I used Firefox when IE6 was still somewhat relevant. I would never switch to Firefox.

People will bitch about both, but I personally like and use both. You can turn off all the crypto shit on Brave so it doesn't flaunt it in your face. Firefox is perfect for mobile since you can install uBlock Origin and Dark Reader. Both are good, try one and if you don't like it try the other.

I've been jumping from one to the other for several months now. It's really just a matter of preference, chromium vs gecko.
Objectively, I've read more privacy breaking stuff coming from Firefox. Like leaking user info to webpages, extensions used to mine crypto, and the infamous ToS from mozilla. None of which have been reported from Brave. On the other side, Brave has done stupidly shady shit in the past few years, but seem to have since stopped. Who knows what are they really doing behind the scenes.
Also, a pro point for Brave is that I can download it directly from Github for my android phone, but I can't do such thing with Firefox, at least not officially from mozilla.

Provide shitty alternative. Firstly Google doesnโ€™t get labeled a monopoly, also genuinely good alternatives are harder to raise support for because
>thereโ€™s already an alternative, itโ€™s Firefox!!!
Hence Mullvad, Librewolf etc just use Gecko because โ€œat least itโ€™s not chromium!โ€
Mozilla shills counter signal attempts to establish truly independent alternatives like Ladybird as โ€œimpracticalโ€ while hardly even attempting to improve their own shit.

Librewolf. Firefox recently changed its ToS so it can sell your data. Librewolf is a fork that keeps that ToS active, and respects your privacy.
