It still had a file picker bug where thumbnails wouldn't render if you didn't load them in nautilus first as late as 2022-2023

Works great. Best DE if you ask me. Gnome isn't bad but if you're used to Windows UI, KDE matches that better.

They made a complete overhaul after 3.x (same shit as for gnome after 2.x). I never understood the "this thing is now mature and perfectly working, time to fuck its shit up" aptitude devs have, like fucking start a new project without deprecating your old efforts you fucking faggot.

They adopted Wayland. It was awesome, but now shit because of Gayland.

They wanted change purely for the sake of change, they let old bugs fester and abandoned their users. KDE today only exists for the programmers, nobody else.
If you want to use it, the standard advice is to stop Akonadi and never ever use KMail. You can check the bug list for KMail, it looks like a festering nuclear wasteland.

KDE is clunky as fuck. It's always randomly breaking for no reason. No version has changed this.

It just works. You have to have a massive skill issue or primordial hardware if it "krashes."

This happens quite often, generally gone after rebooting once plasma environment is updated.
