I am prepared for anything. I usually don't have to go searching for tool for most jobs and situations thanks to multitool. I always have a small blade handy for opening boxes and misc. things that require knife. I have at least two ways to make fire (three if I toss bic lighter in pocket). I always have a smoke for when life gets rough or some bum bothers me (they fuck off if you give them a smoke instead of cash). I can make purchases even if the grid or internet is down. I can defend myself and my family (17 in the gun, 16 more in the spare mag).

You'll notice I don't carry a phone. Reason is I still memorize important numbers and there is literally a phone everywhere. So why would I carry one?

For listening to music you have to hope your Slop 13+ Extreme Turbo still has enough physical buttons left along with the option to actually bind all the media controls to them, otherwise you have to pull it out and fuck with the touchscreen, and even if you don't, it's stupid oversized.
The built-in cameras these days can admittedly be pretty good, but the shape makes it feel like shit to use for actual photography, and you end up with 3+ fucking lenses on the back and a stupid bump (muh ultrathin), which will be there even when you won't be taking photos of anything you need to look particularly good, and that's most of the time for most people.
For actually making actual calls, phones peaked 25+ years ago, and now they're so huge that it's almost hard to blame the retards/kids who always default to loudspeaker.
And digital notes aren't inherently bad, but not having a physical qwerty board to type them on would just make me want to revert to just writing shit down.

Not to mention a bunch of garbage you don't need being always bundled with the actually useful functions.

I rather just have my phone with a 10x (230mm) zoom built in. Compact cameras with better zoom have extremely small 1/2.3 sensors, which is a third the size of the main sensor on my phone. Compacts with larger sensors either have 3x zoom max or a fixed focus 23mm. I'm not going to carry my full-frame mirrorless wherever I go.

I wasn't old enough at the time to see what kind of world we're heading for at that I would end up hating it. I probably would have maxed out at CRT displays and email-capable symbian phone or something.

I liked CyanogenMod/LineageOS at the time too (KitKat 4.4 up until the gay shit that is Android 12), I can't be fucked with fighting it or modding it to that degree, so I just avoid using it. I bought a phone without a 3.5mm jack recently, but most likely won't make the same mistake again.

One nice thing is that I got enough people using my Matrix (Element) instance that I don't need to use whatsapp or facebook or any of that shit.
