probably never
we'll just have to deal with a million nested menus and shit now
at least the 'bleeding edge' flat color eyesore is gradually being phased out

computer graphic display designs have been doing laps around the same design track for eternity. the minimalism is deliberate as to not overload the person looking at whatever it is with too much visual information. you want to get to the fucking point with less effort needed to get the information. it needs to be pleasing to the eye and pleasing to everyone.

This is directTV from 2007.
Have you seen Windows 3.1? 95?

Can you make a post without buzzwords and actual thought? Probably not. It goes in all fields.

unfortunately teletext is dead and we're left with inferior replacements running on shitty ARM microcontrollers built by chinese slaves. this is as good as it's going to get since manufacturers are fucking lazy and their consistency with releasing shit firmware for their products to run on these underpowered ARM microcontrollers don't help matters.

The argument against flat design isn't that old = better. It just happens that no one important is willing to make new software that breaks the trend (until Apple Liquid Glass but /g/'s hatred for Apple is stronger than our love for Y2K)
Flat design is lazy and primitive. Even in your pic there's more effort put into the colors and icons than the average "modern" interface. With the technologies being used under the hood nowdays there should be no excuse. The real reason flat design exists is because it's a cost cutting measure.

The same lies about cost have been said when it comes to architecture. The simply truth is that art schools teach ugliness.

I hate those old buildings so much since I actually lived in one. I also don't like how they look, kitsch and just plain bad taste with that cemetery style ornamentation.
