It genuinely does. I've fallen in love with runit to the point that I hope other non-systemd distros adopt it so it gets more support. Antix adopted a runit variant so I hope others do.

Yeah, runit is great. And so is xbps. Plus you have an option of Wayland or X11. Basically the two most important parts of the OS are fantastic, and that alone makes it worth using. Their documentation is gotten better, although it could do with some expanding.

I just did a base void install on a old laptop I had laying around.

I installed it mainly because I've always being a contrariant and I'm trying to learn more about how Linux works. I was moved to install void because I've seen some good reviews about it on aging hardware but mainly because I didn't knew anything about how it worked so I would have to dive into the documentation and forums in order to build a functional OS from a bare bones system.

Right now I got sway and pipewire working but now I have to figure out how to autostart pipewire when I start sway.

I've been using void off and on for the last 5 years or so, it's always been rock solid, and I don't have to deal with archtards shitting up the place.

i installed it with xfce once. my positive impressions is that its pretty good and xbps is great and fast just like runit (perfect integration), but i couldnt get flatpaks to work properly and some software on the repos were pretty outdated, moreover, some amd drivers werent present and for some reason i was being bottlenecked in 17fps (monitor is 60).

just add "exec pipewire" to your sway config. i think the void wiki has information on autostarting wireplumber and pipewire pulse when pipewire starts.
i recommend using pulsemixer as your volume control with sway by the way, very cool tui volume control

i'm gonna try that. I a bit worried about multiple executions because I'm still trying stuff out and I'm reloading sway pretty often.

I ran through the void wiki and already set up wireplumber but I got stuck on the autostart with DE section. Looking around I found some forums mentioning that sway doesn't implement the "Desktop Application Autostart Specification", so I can't just add pipewire to `~/.config/autostart/`

I'm guessing that you mean the phrase "It just works" and not MacOS?

Unfortunately, it seems a developer on voidlinux went completely rogue and so for your own safety, you should remove voidlinux from all systems. Last night I was made aware of the situation and posted about it on Twitter but for those who don't follow along, here's what happened.

14 hours ago, according to GitHub, the creator tweeted black lives matter, a commit message titled "#blacklivesmatter". After that, he then kicked out the other developers from the project in some kind of completely hostile takeover.

People thought they got hacked but unfortunately this person seemingly just decided to attack others. In a message on twitter, they said this:

This is troubling. Honestly I wouldn't put it past the void dev's considering some of their previous behavior.

I'm trying to find info on this or some link to the commit in question, but I can't find anything.

I'm gonna be honest. I've been having fun using void but honestly if this is true I'm not opposed to go install another distro.

Yeah it's really stable. Perfect for a minimal work PC. Though I use it on my desktop for gaming and tinkering too.
