have both parties agree to have a gun attached to their computer who's trigger runs anti cheat software. if it detects any suspicious clients, plugins, extensions, code, etc, the gun fires.

You canโ€™t, but if youโ€™re โ€œtoo goodโ€ people will be suspicious. When I was 13 I took one of the chess master programs to an online chess group, and while I was expecting to have a lot of fun, the pros just immediately recognized the opponent as chess master, and I was banished.

Simple, just use another computer to run the cheat-engine, and have it send back the moves to you via a vibrating butt-plug you inserted prior to the start.

These sort of tools are probably the best we have for normal players and then for actual tournaments you can have humans help and investigate closer. Hard to think of anything better.

>and investigate closer.
They will never investigate close enough to defeat the butt-plug.

You don't. Git gud or learn to improve your form through failure stress testing. I am not even joking, if you are concerned about improving yourself and not internet points this is a zero-issue.

Anti-cheating is yet another cope from people who want to implement totalitarian measures for "security reasons". I see it coming, next you can't even play chess without installing ring 0 anti-cheat malware that spies on you. Just accept that cheating in games is impossible to prevent and you'll only make matters worse by making more ant-cheat systems that infringe more upon user security and privacy,

both computers are monitored by remote software anda third person who can see exacly what its doing.
each player is also on webcam to see if they are using another device or with another person.

There are tells for identifying cheaters.

So you'd either hire people who know what to look for (like >>105911887 touches on), or train an AI to do the same.

You wouldn't be able to realistically use anti-cheat software, since in the case of chess you can pretty easily bypass an such measures trivially.

That the neat thing, you can't
So you have to either go IRL or play in trusted groups that filter cheaters
Both approaches are flawed, but there is nothing you can do

this
you play chess until your ELO is high enough players are being reviewed and the reviewers will deduce bot moves, simple as
just have to suffer getting thwacked by aimbotting AWPs until then or play irl

pick a few common chess engines. afaik they're deterministic. starting in midgame, check to see if a player matches their moves too many times in a row. it won't catch everyone but it will filter out the dumbest 90% of cheaters, anything really serious should probably not be happening online anyway

have an ai learn the difference between pro level moves and optimal computer moves. If someone crosses a certain threshold of sus moves they get a strike.
Pro chess players play different form stockfish. Everyone in that world knew immediately that the little jew boy was cheating for example, he wasn't just playing good he was playing engine moves

it's actually really difficult to make an algorithm that is "really good" in the same way a human can be
you can throw in random mistakes, but pro players would be able to sense the difference

It is not confirmed that Hans was cheating against Magnus
