I can comfortably type at 60 wpm but that doesn't matter.
In the end I can't write or code coherently at 60 wpm so only use I have for fast typing is when I'm transcribing something I'm hearing which is rare

Qwerty is kino. The distance of the movements of your fingers are a feature not a bug, it makes you look like a cool hackerman while you type. I can comfortably type 120wpm-150wpm on querty with 100% accuracy, or 180wpm in bursts on typing tests. I don't know how I obtained this skill, it just comes naturally to me, I've never met anyone who can type faster though.

Colemak is better for backwards compatibility with gaming for sure. I made my own layout that keeps WASD. It's nice for programming in Python and Lua. Distance traveled is on par with colemak.

it's my 3rd one iirc. first one I had was a cheap one from MadCatz and I loved it. when it started double typing keys I bought a Corsair K70 MKII and fucking hated it, so I treated myself to the K1 Max recently and it's really good. I wanted something with lower profile keys than a full height because I generally like chiclet a lot but they're hard to find for desktops, so I went with that and have no regrets

QWERTY is fine. Get a split keyboard that has straight columns instead of staggered (but not that dumb matrix shit, our fingers curve and so should the rows). You can still use standard keyboards with no effort and keep the 20+ years of typing muscle memory.

it just means you have to make bigger finger/wrist movements more often because the most used letters are further apart from the home row. with more efficient layouts the more common letters are placed closer to your stronger fingers and in dvkorak specically they're placed in such a way that you use the same hand for multiple letters in a row less often. for colemak it's more of a rolling motion or something but I don't use that so idk. all that being said though, i honestly found way more wrist comfort from switching to a split, column staggered keyboard than from using a fancy layout.

Been using azerty since I was 4, I did make some modifications to my layout in MSKLC but I could never switch out. I'm too used to it, and it's more practical for gaming
