Consumers don't buy HDDs anymore.
Capacity increases for the same price are only found in high capacity enterprise HDDs as those are what is manufactured in mass.

Anything sub 24TB is being provided almost as a charity service. There is money to be made selling smaller HDDs but only if they are priced higher per TB, they just aren't produced in numbers that would allow them to be cheaper.

"desktop" hdd are SMR trash
if I want CMR with enough cache in 5400 or 7200 rpm then ironwolf and ironwolf pro are the only solution
