45C when idle. Ridiculous. I don't even know how to cool them down. And I haven't even started copying anything, I'm afraid they'll reach 50C plus and overheat.

Also, this is how my setup looks like. I don't even know where to fit and fix a couple of fans near the hdds. It's a HP Z420 workstation, maybe it's not designed for hard drives and I should find a better desktop.

You gotta change the oil man, that's why we call these things "spinning rust". Or you know stop being a fucking hoarder and use AV1 already. There's nothing to gain by preserving all the facial hair wisps of women in 4K res at 100 Mbps.

perhaps you should delete all your 'p to make it less hot.

Jonsbo N5
Fractal Node 304 or 804
Fractal Define R5

Or take side panel off and blow a fan on it but that probably won't be best for vibrations and dirt

But still they shouldn't be THAT hot in that case...I had a similar setup to that before and the drives were at 35C idle

I'm not hoarding any of that, only things of sentimental value, artist discographies, dvdrips of classic and rare cinema, literature, instructionals, software, isos.

I'll try to squeeze a couple of 10-12mm fans between the psu and the drive bay like this, if they'll fit and cool down the hdd then I would be happy.

It is for spinning rust. 50C is ONLY good for SSDs since hot (not boiling hot though) temps ironically preserve data better in the electron charge traps.

Not that hot. It's fine. If you're looking to cool them then put them in a chassis with air pushing through

That's hotter than my idle Samsung 990 Pro SSDs with 42°C.
My Toshiba HDD is 27°C idle.

swap to any case with front fant an HDD bay right next to that. My HDD's were going to 50C in previous case, now they don't exceed 35C

You really do not need to be worrying about HDD temps unless they're over 55C. These things aren't CPUs.
