Got questions about GNU/Linux minimalism or want to share your journey? Jump in! Everyone is welcome here, no matter your experience level.

Bloatware slows things down, creates security issues, and makes software harder to use by piling on features most people donโ€™t need. Minimalist software, on the other hand, keeps things simple and efficient โ€” it respects your time and doesn't waste your deviceโ€™s resources.

minimalism is a nice concept and a goal all developers should strive for. Just be wary of the extreme, and by that I mean making the tiniest of changes for the slightest improvements. Time is a precious resource, you should minimize how much is invested for what is to be gained.

>minimalism
Such a loaded term and kind of a dead meme.

To some "minimalism" (in technology) is using one device for everything and having a flat-shit OS. For others its a borderline unusable linux box with DWM that only needs 150MB RAM at idle.

It all means nothing.

I hate dbus. I wish the multicast unix domain socket patch was merged to the kernel ten years ago like it should have been.
