Gnusisters, how many distros have you used so far? And which one is your favorite and why?

They all suck except Fedora, Debian and Arch.
But picking from one of these three depends on your specific requirements.

Actually openSUSE is also pretty good but it's kinda borderline compared to the other three.

5 distros Manjaro, debian, archlinux, void, artix.

Artix was the last distro which proved its worth for me.

recently I've used 3 distros, in that order: EndeavourOS, Arch and Artix, and I stayed on Artix (been on it for slightly over a year now)
years ago I've also given Ubuntu, Mint and Manjaro a try (I'm talking like 2010-2011 for the first two)

OpenSUSE is going through a massive overhaul right now. For better or worse they're trying to position themselves as a European Red Hat. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

both have the same kind of woke bullshit so I'm not exactly surprised. RH is still way more extreme in that regards though as they have internal policies that would make any sane person recoil in disgust

You tell me your requirements and I'll tell you which is best suited.

>>105935109
This is /g/ so I'm excluding corporate distros; note that I also didn't mention RHEL or SLE.

>>105935150
I just want them to add history support to zypper like Fedora has in DNF. I know that snapper exists but I would like rollback at the package manager level.

Stable, doesn't get in my way, good dcoumentation and easy to debug if it does bork, not ugly to look at, faster than windows, no codec nvidia bullshit "we dont ship non free drivers but you can set it up if you want" luddite shit, and most importantly NO JEET DEVS. I dont care abt culture war stuff but IBM being jeetlandia is a problem for me.

>Stable
By stable i dont mean outdated, it seems to be a buzzword in the linux world, I mean something that wont work when updating/installing something or customizing it, some "stable" distros are so outdated that any new program out there doesn't work fresh out of the box unless you tweak with it.

I'm leaving so here it is in a nutshell.
>Fedora
You want enhanced security, leading edge features, and an up to date desktop.
>Debian
You want a minimally changing OS, and a democratic organization and development process.
>Arch
You want a simple system, an active enthusiast community, and the very latest software.

>>105935338
>>105935344
It sounds like you want Arch. You just need to read ArchWiki carefully and ask any questions on its forums.

Things breaking in Arch is mostly a meme. At most, you might have to do some special commands when during an upgrade sometimes, which is usually a copy/paste from the website.

Raspbian
A wierd distro of Mint
Ubuntu-WSL1
DragonflyBSD
FreeBSD (32 but version)
Ubuntu (Again)
Gentoo
Lunix
Debian
A different weird version of Mint (for powerpc macbooks)
Devuan
(I like Devuan the best, but I'd be lying if I said it was any different than Debian)
